Should some socio-political POVs be considered to be antisocial?

Recently, I was accused of "race-baiting," whatever that means, when I was only trying to start a sensible discussion on the lot of black people in the United States. Because people on forums nowadays are so lame and pathetic that they will accuse you of trolling if you happen to breathe a word that doesn't line up with their own views, I tried putting a notice on there to try to avert that. Apparently, it was a mistake, and it only primed the guy in question to take the post provocatively. The discussion degenerated into a toxic waste dump from there, and it disappeared from this particular forum. I wasn't cited any warnings for it, so apparently I wasn't considered to be necessarily at fault. It was a complete disaster. It occurred to me, though, that the anger over this subject would not even be there if the country had never practiced racist policies in the first place.

Racism is not only a POV that is inherently hostile and provocative toward a real or perceived demographic out-group, but the recoil from it can result in aggression against people from the supposed in-group. I have been chased out of black neighborhoods by local youths just because I was a white guy and had made the mistake of trying to take a short-cut through their neighborhood.

That hostility can be traced back to racist, discriminatory laws that were in place until the Civil Rights movement succeeded in overturning them. In spite of the fact that there are no longer any segregationist laws, though, there are still a lot of disturbingly homogeneous neighborhoods out there. The old hostilities still exist even now, after generations.

Well, is it arguable that some socio-political POVs are anti-social? Let's take the laws that used to be in place against sodomy. Note that they were still enforceable only a decade ago, just to show you how recently a couple of cops could have come to drag me out of my own bedroom for a strictly private act. There was never any excuse for these laws. There was no more excuse for these laws than there ever was for the Jim Crow laws.

I have heard people trying to argue that it was all about their religion somehow, but the sense that I got when I was being harassed just for looking like a gay guy, since I was not sexually active during my adolescence at all, didn't look like a religious observance to me. I saw teenage, degenerate thugs who don't even deserve to live. To think about the fact that those savages are being given an equal vote in our elections is appalling to me because I know them to be psychopathically violent against any group of people they are implicitly given permission to treat like crap. They are bad people.

There are people out there who want to completely abolish the welfare system, even though they know this would mean little kids not getting enough to eat. These people think that, if an infant is starving to death right in front of you, giving it some formula to drink is optional. That is pretty messed-up thinking, but it is considered to be a legitimate socio-political POV. You are actually allowed to run for office with this as part of your platform.

Some political POVs are so harmful, shouldn't they be considered to be antisocial?

Here is a POV - that needs to be discussed:

"the property tax is a permanent government lien on a person's home. A person never owns his home even after the mortgage is paid off, because he has to continue paying government for the right to live in his home."

Some POVs really ARE anti-social, hateful, or whatever. That doesn't mean that holding such views should be illegal or even that these views are incorrect or illogical.

Don't know who said that, but there's a lot of truth to it.

I had a discussion today with my 2 female early-40s managers about porn. One was complaining that "in principle" (i.e. not related to her situation --- yeah right) some husbands might abuse it. And the other one said that it's natural and that men are like "dirty beasts" - they need to watch it because they need to watch it ... They'll watch it for a while and then be done with it, and that you should just let them be.

I faked outrage and said "no, it's unnatural and crazy how our society has gone down the tubes", scoring some extra points for next year's bonus. Though I watched pron this morning before work and last night before bed

Or rather, it can be traced back to the racist, discriminatory character of the society that created and imposed those laws in the first place, which did not somehow vanish with the abolition of said laws.

It's more than "arguable:" it's incontrovertible.
