The idea here seems to be to have Jews team up with pro-illegal alien activists to get amnesty passed so that the former can get help from Hispanics in influencing U.S. policy in ways that are beneficial to Israel. Sounds treasonous.

"Treasonous" means: Acting to overthrow one's government, attempting to harm or kill its sovereign, or violating one's allegiance to one's nation or its sovereign.

Using legal means--or at worst civil disobedience--to influence government policy, advocating for the passage of new laws or the repeal of existing laws, campaigning for favorable relations between one's government and the government of one's favorite foreign country, and forming an alliance with another group to increase the support for both of your campaigns: None of these is treasonous.

For a head of state to lie to his people, convincing them wrongly that a particular foreign head of state was responsible for a terrorist attack, in order to deflect the blame from the nation that was largely responsible, because the heads of that nation are his family's business colleagues in the petroleum industry and making war on that nation would imperil his family's fortunes: now THAT is a violation of his allegiance to his nation, and THAT is treason.

Uhm...exactly what ideals does the stance "pro illegal alien" support..? Criminality? Welfare fraud? Identity theft? Tax evasion?

Despite the Forward's article the alliance sound's far fetched. In support of the alliance idea I would bet that American Jews don't feel that America for Anglo White protestant Americans sentiment as strongly as your average Republican from the South, the Southwest and the middle of America does.

Also the US military is increasingly becoming full of the children of illegal immigrants.

    None of those things.

The pro illegal immigrant forces come in three flavors.

The most important pro illegal immigrant group is the employers of illegal immigrants and their friends and allies. The employers insist they can't find American workers. Really they can't find the same quality of worker at such a low cost as they can pay illegal immigrants. The Employers have swayed the Clinton's and Bush's and presumably Obama, McCain and most of the other candidates for president in 2008 and most of Congress and most of the media and most of the very wealthy Americans to their point of view.

Another group is the illegal immigrants themselves. The Illegal immigrants also buy into the employers story that illegal immigrants are an asset to the USA. The vast majority of illegal immigrants are just here to work and make a better life for their kids and they don't want to believe that their presence in the USA hurts anybody or burdens the American infrastructure.

The last group is the anti-racists. Anti-racists have correctly perceived that the loud hard core opposition to illegal immigration is racially or xenophobically based. There may be more people like me who oppose illegal immigration out of economic loyalty to the people already in the USA than there are xenophobic opponents to illegal immigrants but my type makes less noise and sees the deindustrialization of America by sending manufacturing to China as a more important issue than illegal immigration. The people talking about illegal immigrants as a crime problem and security risk and as welfare recipients are in my opinion really semi-closeted xenophobes. The illegal immigrants don't behave badly in proportion to their numbers and economic level but their presence in the USA does lead many of the less functional American born people who's jobs they have taken to be on welfare more and to commit more crime.

The Anti-racists flavor of supporter of illegal immigrants come in three sub-categories. One group is many legal Hispanics who view the anti-illegal immigrant people as being anti-Hispanic racists. Another group is many of all sorts of ethnic minorities who see the anti-illegal immigrant movement as racism against ethnic minorities. The last group is the lefties who think "mean people suck" who see the anti-illegal immigration movement as just another example of mean people being mean by being racist which is viewed as a subcategory of meanness.

The Jewish Hispanic alliance would be a strategic advantage, according to this article in Haaretz
