No this is not a thread on administration at sciforums. This is a lecture by Chris Hedges at the New School

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EpeF1fcji0

Its a great lecture on why the problem in the world today is not right wing politics or fascism, but the decline of liberal values and its substitution by superficiality and pseudoevents with an increasing inability to distinguish what is real from what is illusion.

Anyone who is interested in society and politics will be challenged by this lecture.

I think Chris Hedges brings a much wanted perspective to political inaction today and the decline of modern day western society - he writes a somewhat regular column on Truthdig and I think his opinions have much substance

I agree with him. I also see what he is says is happening but I'm not sure if socialism the answer or way out but I guess that's besides the point. Good video.

To avoid falling victim to the disconnect he discusses in the video, even in reference to his own media contribution, most of what he says there is in text (almost word for word, he's a writer first) in his essays on truthdig (SAM's second link)

And in that form, one can remember it more easily (it doesn't move, the questions and answers are not undermined by the unglamorous physical appearance or aural presentation of the people and setting) and think about it more clearly.

Also his voice is not made for oral presentations. Hence my addition of the column link.

    Any thoughts on his views?
