All this speculation about WWII means nothing to me. We are comrades now in the wars we are now engaged in. That is all that matters. The young soldiers I have spoken with speak well of you and appreciate your being there with them. These stupid arguments mean nothing. We stand and fight together, that is what is important. ...traveler
Its a losing battle...and an unethical one. The appeal of comradeship is typically used to gloss over the latter...in spite of the former.
The average soldier usually doesnt know anything about the war, and probably doesnt care. Nor are such things even required. Their role is to follow orders and not much else, regardless of whether they are fighting for the Nazis, Americans, Russians, the Chinese, etc. How much did the average US soldier know about the history of Vietnam, or even where it is on a map?
