And I have no idea who/what they are either. People who start a thread with no reference aren't very bright. So on that basis, I'd have to say that I don't trust the original poster him/her self.

Not that I'd trust the son of a bitch, either...

I mean - that friggin' rain hat looks like some kind of goddam zippy dippy overturned buttercup style portable crapper or some goddam thing !

    Hmm ok.. Thanks Killjoy.
That leaves me wondering what the point of this thread is.

@jmpet: Can you please give a direction to this thread? Otherwise I don't see the point of it.

You know, that ain't even the original Gorton's fisherman... ...he had white hair & beard -

This new dude must be his son or somethin'.

I almost feel sorry for the poor dumb bastard - the Grand Banks are like a stone dead wasteland compared to Pappy's day...

Not as sorry as the people eating whatever bottom-feeding, toxin-laden mutant sea creatures formerly tossed overboard as garbage that Gorton's is putting in their "fish sticks, of course, but still...

    :mufc:

BTW - since when do threads need a point in this here sub-fuh-room ?

For example - our resident Seattle Stoner-Mod's tossed in one about a bus fire, and one about a 30 year old bank scam... ...wot'r the points O' them ?

I ain't complaining, mind you... ...just sayyin'...

At least those threads have something to say, to discuss.
This is just.. what, commentary on the label of a fishsticks box?
Now if there was any good reason of why jmpet doesn't trust the company..

Perhaps it's a veiled commentary on advertising in general - the images and/or archtypes companies use to try to convince us that they are beneficient giants with "good old fashioned values" that want nothing more than to provide value for your money in that great American tradition that - let's face it - never actually existed, but which is trundled out like some sort of "soft bludgeon" to dull our wits and prompt us to believe the hype.

I kinda don't think that's the case in this instance, but isn't the three pounds of electro-chemically active lard inside our skulls pretty much the equivalent of a tumor if we can't at times take the proverbial ball and run with it ?

I think the beard makes him more trustworthy. Its like Santa has a day job as a fisherman.

Perhaps, but in order to have any sort of conversation about it he might want to make it a bit less veiled

I don't know, he certainly hasn't put forward any reasons.

Then can somebody give me a good reason to trust the Gorton's fisherman?

    I didn't think so.

    No way.

Matter of fact, one look at the bastid makes you wish there was some kinda Nazi Ghost U-boat or something out there haunting the seas to sink his goddam Trawler of Lies and Deceit !

For all we know- he could be a drug smuggler... think about it- what's a great motto for a drug smuggler? "Trust me!" Meanwhile all the fish are stuffed with cocaine headed for your neighborhood.

    BASTARD!

The beard is a symbol of maturity and manhood. The bearded man is an archetype of security. And security also means secrecy. Beards signify concealment. That man is hiding something. That is why I don't trust Gorton's man.

And look at that younger Gorton. He looks almost plastic... like a sexbot for ursaphiles. Creepy!

One can tell the size of a man's **** by the size of the fish their boat is named after. It's an inverse correlation.

I have heard of that boat before. Sounds famous. Can't put my finger on it... too far away.

I heard Gorton's was bought by a Japanese company that also supplies whale meat.

so, I don't buy Gorton's. Considering my husband is an avid fisherman, I haven't had the need to ever buy fish sticks
