whats it about?
Where's the Millenium virus...2000 year came and n-a-d-a....null...ziltch...2012 will come with Aztecs down the drain with their future perception and than which year is next for apocalypse feararizings?
whats it about?
Its about Earth being destroyed in catoclysms of meteorites and tidal waves and a Hollywood actor surviving it all in a plane while flying away from a tsunami that engulfs the entire Manhattan. I would like to shoot the director of this film out of a high velocity barrel so that he can be used as a projectile against meteorites, to deter them.

The old disaster movie based on the mythology ploy. I like these kinds of movies. However, I prefer alien invasion.

So do I. Aliens are more entertaining. Try: Pandorum (movie)

Whoever decided to make this movie did great market research.

You aren't suggesting "when all the loons chant in unison, make a movie" are you? (What I mean is there is always conspiracy theorist and NWO junkies out there stating how the worlds doing this or that, obviously they are a viewing public. Most of the time though they make that junk up to keep themselves entertained, when the movie industry starts peddling it, it doesn't mean it's any more real, just something else for the Marketeers to use as a Cash Cow)
What some people don't understand though is that the movie industry is known to create false occurances as publicity stunts to push peoples buttons and ready them for their own NWO, one where you are a party to being one of the Cinema going public.

I agree. It just seems the internet frenzy is exceptionally high with this one, I can't count how many internet websites I've stumbled upon. I even have some friends who believe it.

I love end of the world movies. Except for The Road. That one I'm definitely NOT gonna see.
I can't wait to see this one
The sad thing is that after 2012 is over and we are still here with only our own human created problems to deal with.
All of the crazies will find something new to latch onto and a new date will be set, to also come and go.
In the meantime, we avoid dealing with the real issues that cause real harm to us and the rest of the creatures roaming this earth.
The number of poor will rise, the rich will be richer and there will still be millions of unnecessary avoidable deaths.
There will be a lot of good people doing good things offset by all of the apathy.
If an asteroid hits us in 2013 are we going to say " those god damn Mayans didn't know shit" !
Just checking.. you meant the movie 2012: Supernova? Right?
Well, if so, it totally sucked!

I think it would be great to do a documentary movie following the lives of several people who buy into this sort of crap. They can be filmed on New Year's Day 2013 crying and bleating that nothing came to pass, at which point the remainder of the movie focusses on their lame attempts to find significance in their lives while dealing with an actual real world for once. The final part of the documentary will see them flocking to new cults/conspiracy theories, once they inevitably decide that real life is too boring and meaningless for them to handle.
yeah
it could have its worldwide premier in las vegas at randi's amazing conference
the skeptics could watch while circle jerking each other

Right, because all skeptics are just in it to jerk themselves off over their own intelligence. You aren't sick and tired of the rotten trash fairy tale thinking that governs our societies these days, I take it?

what's a circle jerk??
A bunch of ahem, pantless men stand in a circle and grab ahem, the guy next to his' junk and jerk it.
Contextually, to "do a circle jerk" is to have a bunch of men in a discussion room all complementing each other while everything around them is falling apart.
It was not as good as "The Day After Tomorrow" but it had better special effects.

*Communicating Skepticism to the Public, the manual handed out at the media workshop, contains a brief passage that illustrates the gulf between science and the skeptics. In part three, “The Media Skeptic: Encouraging a skeptical media attitude,” we learn how to become a media authority: “Becoming an expert is a pretty simple procedure; tell people you’re an expert. After you do that, all you have to do is maintain appearances and not give them a reason to believe you’re not.”
As we know, it works a little differently in science. You can’t just say you’re an expert in, say, paleoanthropology unless you’ve actually done the work, either at an accredited university or on your own. By contrast, a skeptic need only form a club with like-minded people. “As head of your local skeptic club, you’re entitled to call yourself an authority. If your other two members agree to it, you can be the spokesperson too.”
*Unfortunately, with its sense of being assaulted by legions of loonies on the one hand and a cynical media on the other, the skeptic movement tends to be both defensive and hostile. After noting that Sylvia Brown-a huckster psychic who appears often on CNN’s Larry King Live-is known as “claws” among JREF staff because of her long fingernails, Randi expressed the hope that while scratching herself, she would tear an artery and die, a prospect which evoked hearty laughter from the audience. Later, as I looked over the books for sale by notable skeptics, I overheard a JREF staff member explain to a potential customer that The Ancestor’s Tale, the weighty new hardback by Richard Dawkins, was “excellent for bludgeoning a creationist.” Needless to say, the siege mentality and the spirit of scientific inquiry have never exactly been bedfellows.
The tone of the conference was geared more toward ridiculing the enemy than engaging in thoughtful scientific discussion. Bad jokes about crackpot chiropractors got big laughs. In this environment a discussion of possible evidence in favor of chiropractic would have been inconceivable. Alternative medicine is a favored target of skeptics, despite the fact that no scientific discipline is ever perfect or complete and that we can expect at least some trends from the periphery of medical practice to be taken up eventually within the scientific mainstream. Granted, certain aspects of alternative medicine are obviously fraudulent, such as ear candling and magnetic bracelets, but to denounce anything at all that’s outside accepted, traditional medicine is to promote a view of science more akin to religion - with its unreflective, ossified dogmas - than science as it actually exists. Ok, my apologies. A friend of mine downloaded 2012 Supernova. I already had my doubts upon hearing the title, but it turns out it was another movie.
So I still have to see it. The trailers look great..

I don't want to see on the big screen what I read in the book. I think The Road is going to be very very close to what the actual end of the world would be like.
