This New Year’s Eve is a Blue Moon.
This combination doesn’t happen very often, and my wife and I celebrate Blue Moons to begin with.

We had our first kiss on a Blue Moon (didn’t realize it was a Blue Moon until the next day).
We got married on the next Blue Moon (the date happened to work out just right).
This will be our third Blue Moon together.

    This is what we’re doing

It’s an evening dinner train through the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

I’ve taken a train over the Sierra Nevadas a few times before (I prefer to travel by train if the option is at all available) but I have never done this trip.
I am buying the tickets tonight (so don't buy any until tomorrow, you bastard).
    I’m very excited.

Do you have any New Year’s Eve/Blue Moon plans this year?

Looks like a nice trip, One raven.
Will there be fireworks at the end (and I don't mean in your hotel room

    )?

I have nothing special planned on New Year's Eve.
I didn't know what a Blue Moon was until I looked it up just now. Interesting!

Well, it depends on who you ask.
It can either be the second full moon in a calendar month (that's the one I use) or the third full moon in a quarter that has four full moons.
