I hate competitive sport with a passion. I know it stems partially from jealousy, envy, and a sense of inadequacy. But that's not the point. I'm not attempting to rationalize or validate my judgement on sport, I'm simply curious as to what people think. Is hating sport, Socially unacceptable or morally wrong ?
No more than hating fashion or religion or homosexuals or blacks. There's plenty of pointless hatred going around. I think people don't realise how necessary sport is to the human psyche.
If you claim to hate something so pointless as sport, then you either don't know what hatred is or have some serious emotional disorder.
What exactly would constitute a non-competitive sport? ...I know.. just a semantic quibble... Still, if I knew exactly what was meant by that phrase, perhaps it might not be 'sport' that you have a problem with, as opposed to 'competition'......
No it isn't socially unacceptable. Morally wrong? Seriously? I could sense that you weren't fond of sports in my Make a School thread. You made them sound so god awful that people only do them the school makes them. While I am an athlete and I love a good game of just about anything that gets me moving, I can understand your dislike. I hate artwork and philosophy with a passion. But I've never been forced into a confessional booth for saying so. You don't have to like something just because most people love it.
I think it's sport, challenger doesn't have a problem with debate and chess club, which are competitive.
I see. You'll have to forgive some of my presuppositions, In Australia sports (or rather, a lack of) is a intense area. Some people think they're necessary to gain citizenship. thankfully none of these idiots were ever published. Nevertheless, It's the one part of my adopted country that I've always been wary of.
