Hope everything goes well for everyone.

Ooooops! They put it on hold because of a storm 30 miles away, where they need to land in case of a problem.

Now they scrubbed the launch until tomorrow. To bad.

Please stay on-topic.

Next launch opportunity is Wednesday, July 15 at 6:03 p.m. EDT. The weather, for now, looks favorable.

well something going to launch tonight:

update: It was a perfect launch for a company that crashed it first 3 launches, still need to circulerize the orbit in 30 minute a nd prove their boosters and be relight in in orbit.

Well there's 20 minutes left before it tries to lift off again today. Looks good so far, hope all goes well.

Now there's a built in hold....geeeez...lets get it moving!

Successful launch!

All of those built-in holds are described here: Countdown 101 (http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/launch/countdown101.html).

I know , I was only trying to move along a little quicker. Great sight to see it get up and go! :bravo:

YAY
nice to see my order of good weather came through.
(this post was brought to you by boring text and monochrome colour systems)

is the inspection clear yet ?

no hits reported ?

is the nose ok ?

There were some foam hits. Some fools in the press have pounced on this statement by John Shannon."There is nothing that we have seen on the orbiter that causes us any concern. Of course, since this looks like a new mechanism of shedding foam off the intertank, we need to understand that. It did not hurt us, apparently, on this flight, because it came off so late. But we'll need to understand that before the next flight."

There are a lot of stories in the press claiming NASA is grounding the Shuttle fleet. I am not going to give the newsies any credence by posting links to the copies of stories that claim this. Aside: WTF is it with news organizations buying and selling stories these days with nary a fact check to see if the story is true?

A tweet from NASA regarding this: http://twitter.com/nasa. In case it gets buried,"We're not suspending shuttle missions. As always, we need to understand anomalies before the next flight."

you sold out to the man!

/saddened

LOL

as if !

this "man" you infer to is the private sector

which is ironic as "the man" has always been the state (police and government etc)

those who do not know "the man" is a term used by afro americans and is a play on the old term of slaver master being "master" where the afro americans have removed their emotional predisposed racial baggage off specific people and attributed it to the government system so it can never die.

this allows them to maintain a sense of grievance against the state continuously and allow them self validation to nurture children as being victims of the state/government and police and all authority figures.

the term quickly changed to take on a sense of dominant ideal and became an accolade as much as an insult.

much like the word nigger derived from negro which now allows afro americans to perpetuate racial unrest by redefining it and spreading it though music to create a new appartied.
blacks who can use the word nigger
whites who can not use the word nigger.

and so they go on and make their own man on every street corner

funny ol world

now back to the topic

Well they took the part out and hooked it to the primary unit on the ISS without any problems. Nice job up there everyone! What a piece of engineering for the way it automatically bolted itself together was incredible, I've never seen that done before. Keep up the great work and be careful!

EVA complete at 50% attenuation.
2 batteries yet to be changed over.
it seems there was a problem with one of the co2 scrubber filters in chriss' suit.
canister of lithium hydroxide
the eva was called in a little short for safety but both crew members are ok with no damage or injury.

currently the station is running on half battery facility.
This means they can not use the main exercise machine until they get the other 2 batteries changed over.

Observational note RE this last EVA
it does seem they/maye chris
was moving a lot faster than what i have seen others move during their EVA's.
this brings me to question respiration rates and wonder what leeway there is in the suits for elevated respiratory activity and how this effects the brain with possibly reduced oxygen resulting in lack/reduced of processing ability.

try doing a math exam after a marathon and you will understand what i am referring to.

frustration is another aspect.
ever noticed when you are trying to find something and you cant seem to find it only to discover it was in a spot you already looked at ?
this is an extremely common situation with most people and i wonder how neurologists and psychologists consider this ?

the longer you go on looking in a certain mind set the more your frustration, heart rate goes up, respiratory rate goes up and productivity goes down.

this "action" can be simulated with toxicity with things like Narc's and oxygen depravation along with extreme fatigue.
fingers crossed they check everything in case chris may not be processing nitrogen in the same way as expected or something like that.

well next EVA is coming up.

things to do list

Replace 2 batteries.

attempt to send a Mars Bar through Re entry to have a earth fired mars bar :D

sounds like the Co2 scrubbing issue has been unraveled and is a peak flow issue so it seems they need to work to rule on the tortes and the hair thing.

technologically speaking the science is not yet up with the human body.
the human body can accelerate tremendously and adjusts receptors, motor function, respiratory rate, heart rate, blood flow, hand eye co-ordination etc the list goes on and on.

what i think this latest discovery has outlined is that there is actually a critical speed limit in space suits.
Reminds me of something i discovered many years ago about density while cutting cheese at my Gfs' place.
she said to me "why do you cut it soo slow?"
i said "it has a certain cutting speed which makes it easy to cut and allows consistent slicing".
she laughed and realised what i was saying(smarty pants she is).

space is the same because you are moving a device.
the space suit and you are regulated to the saturation (relative density level) of the available oxygen supply.

while Astronauts like Chris may be super fit they can only go as fast as the slowest component.
IF possible we may see a miniature pure oxygen bottle fitted to the suits in future as a manually or remotely activatable device much like a "stim pack".
it is highly likely that this type of device may well have been able to compensate for the current technological short fall.
pure oxygen is not only lethal but highly flammable so it is something that will no doubt raise some questiojns that may or may not make this idea possible.

next up 7 hour EVA space walk
crikey !
dont forget to put the cat out and take a packed lunch :D

change over of 4 batteries

it is an interesting reality as we watch high tech stuff being used by some of the most highly trained science personal on the planet yet technology is still not advanced enough to do this job by a robot.

just goes to show time and again how incredibly technical the human body is.

isn't it funny to think only a few months ago the republican party were talking up a new cold war.

now in the space station we have Russians Americans and Canadians and Belgium.

I don't even dare think what would have happened to the space station and technology should the republicans have won.

"A Society that Explores is a Society that Evolves" Quoted from a Belgium astronaut.

If an Astronaut/cosmonaut cant do it, call god because there wont be anyone else better qualified.

interesting change in management i suspect.
is there a new mandate of media control now in force on the STSII ?
