Yesterday I witnessed ball lightning!
I was standing outside, a small bright white sphere appeared across the street and while moving at about 25 mph it went into my neighbors backyard and disappeared.
It was about 1 1/2 inches across.
Very interesting indeed.

Was this accompanied by deafening thunder and a conventional lightning strike near you? If so, would it be possible to investigate exactly where the originating strike was, and what the floating plasma was formed from?

You know we still don't know what causes lightning, how it actually happens.
It is such an observed phenomena, happens on earth many times a day. We don't know how or why it happens.
Many of the less informed people think we do know about lightning, I would expect/hope no one here is on that level though.

From how far away did you clearly see 1 1/2 inches?

Have you ruled out alien spacecraft and ghosts ? :D
Very interesting Diode. Has the weather been very dry and warm lately ?

My theory is that the Earth also has an electric field which is often affected by solar flares. Consider also that we are moving 69,000 miles per hour on our little sphere called Earth, that must cause SOME friction for lightning bolts to happen.

30 to 48 feet-ish.
It was quite clear in my vision. Maybe the power of a 1 watt LED in brightness.
