Movie stars.. that is. Yea yea... plastic surgery. But, that isn't everything. Take for example Robin Williams and John Travolta.

Movie:

Real Life:
http://cm1.theinsider.com/media/0/382/65/robin_williams_old.0.0.0x0.399x600.jpeg

I couldn't find one of Travolta that looks old... he's the same age as Williams so I think Travolta has amazing genetics.

But what is it? I don't get it.

first you need to start off good looking to age well. but afa the question it is all makeup.

I would say ,makeup, lighting, the nice clothes, good cameras,. Also training, they look aware of the camera, like they are ready for a picture, not caught off guard.

camrea cant make someone look different, lighting has a little effect but more of a masking effect.

The camera can make a difference, dont ya think? Look at Enmos pics of bugs. with a great camera, things look bright, they pop, look vibrant.

true as far as color saturation and sharpness but in this case with a human subject the attractiveness of the person needs to be there from the onset. with robin williams all they did, as far as i can tell, is add color to his skin and remove the blemishes. with a still camera you can do this after the image is taken but you cant do that with film or video.

have you ever noticed how a certain pose can make or break a photo?

If I could find it, I'd show you the video of this woman going from regular, non made up face, to looking like a model (they even show her picture on the side of a bus). They use time lapse photography to film the whole make up process.
She looks like a model afterwards, but her real appearance is the classic definition of a 'Butter Face'.

A good make-up artist can make you look however they want you to look.

Yeah, I do remember watching Mrs Doubtfire, with Robin Williams.

Yea I've seen that video. That's similar... but she was going for a photo shoot. They have a lot more to work with. These movie stars, on the other hand, need to look younger while moving and under varying light conditions (like if they go to a party).

However, I can show you the opposite:

Haha. No. It's a term for a woman with a nice figure but a homely face.
"Everything on her looks good 'butter face'."

Butter face comes from "but her face."

It's a woman that has a hot body "but her" face is ugly... if not fugly.

Example:

Sometimes people use butter face to mean a woman that has a fat, puffy face but she's cute nonetheless.

I don't consider that woman to have a butter face in the least. She has a fairly sexy face.

Well you sir have way different standards than I do. She's too masculine in the face for one.

If I were having sex with her, I'd feel gay.

I agree it does look a bit masculine per se, but it's not hideous. No major deformities, fairly symmetrical. Now, if she had Sandra Bernhart's face, that would be a butter face...a textbook definition of it.
I'd feel gay if I ever had sex with a body builder chick...regardless of what her face looked like.

I get the sense that she is a post-op transsexual.
If so, "she's" the best looking one I've ever seen.

Genetics play a huge roll. My mother in law had barely a wrinkle. She also took very good care of her skin. An excellent skin care regime was taught to me when I was growing up and its paid off in spades. People never guess my real age, but my pigtails, spongebob shirt and immaturity probably help. LOL ;)

I don't think I'd ever EVER have plastic surgery, but I'd do dermebrasion and/or botox.

So, does anyone think 60 yr old Ozzy hasn't had work done? After all the abuse he has put his body through, I can't believe he looks this good naturally.

I am sure he has had work done, especially since his wife Sharon is a well known plastic surgery junkie. The thing I like about her is though, she doesn't try and hide it she comes right out and says that she has had tons of work done and doesn't plan on stopping.

Despite an abundance of hardship & stress, I look younger than I am. I think diet is a significant factor & not using much alcohol or medicine yet the main factor is DNA.

Same here. I'm 36. Nobody I've worked with out of the several that have asked me, save one person, has guessed above 31. A few have even guessed 27, which made me chortle.
I figured the receding hairline would have been an automatic guessing of older.
The only thing I can think of for me is that I've stayed relatively active my whole life. I'm also a vitamin (one a day) and nutritional supplement junkie. Vitamins help metabolize your food and helps the condition of your skin as well.
Plus genetics was generous with me when it gave me a super fast metabolism, which I'm sure plays a part in maintaining health too.

I've worried about age spots. My sister in law has one on her cheek. What are they?

I was at a small family reunion yesterday and everyone said that I didn't look 24 going on 25. Maybe 18-20.

I sweat a lot, eat pretty healthy, and apply moisturizer and sun lotion to my face daily. Also, everyone that I met has a crappy diet and doesn't exercise so even the 29 year old there looked mid to late 30s.

How to look younger:
1- Healthy life (sleep, good food, clean drink, exercise)- too much time.
2- Having a satisfactory and preferably well paid job, hobby, or profession - too much time to spend to get there, to have a distinctive body proportions, an overwhelming passion, or brainy. (no guarantee to look younger, but it works for some people)
3- Having a natural late ageing metabolism. (some people have it, not necessarily being a celebrity)
4- Make-up, anti-ageing products, plastic operation, and good camera light- too much time and money required.
5- Praying or working for anti-ageing science, such as cell repairment, cloning human organs, etc. -most reliable and efficient way in the long term. You can live 250 year with the body of 25 years old. Perfectly human dream.
6- Staying out of stressful conditions -you shouldn't worry even if your city is destructed by a tsunami, hurricane, earthquake, or you shouldn't care if your daughter runs away with a junkee. Stay calm, like nothing's really matter.
7- Praying or working for artificial simulation of human brain in a software environment. So you can choose your body and socialise with other simulations. (Requires a great leap in computer technology and the science of human brain)
8- Living in a society who does not give too much emphasis on age related issues -you don't get younger, but no one looks at you as too old either.

Haha. My face gets dry and very rough looking if I don't do anything about it. Perhaps it gets that way because I clean it a lot (I get a lot of zits). Also, I'm out in the sun a lot.

If life were 100% stress free, there would be no reason for the body to get stronger. The body would wither away and die very quickly.

Ha, I love those Photoshop videos. Especially that first one.

How do celebrities look younger?
Even without cosmetic surgery they are successful in life, they know how to treat their body, and you can do almost anything with makeup.

Religious folk look to the Bible for guidance but they don't take every word of it to be God's mandate.

Over cleansing your face will result in pimples. When you cleanse you strip your face of its natural oils so your skin produces more, and then you're adding a moisturiser which is more than likely very greasy and not considering pH. Stick to cleansing gently once in the morning with a light moisturiser with SPF15+ (not sunscreen as well, sunscreen is good but it will result in pimples if you're constantly putting it on your face) and once at night.

If you're concerned about sunburn get a milky sunscreen instead of one of those thick sick body ones

well, when u have dry skin that also results in pimples.. to much moisture causes them too... now combo skin.. that is a bitch!! I have oily and dry skin... and I live in a dry climate.. i have been using this off brand type of lotion, for ur entire body, on my face.. and it works... last night i was using baby oil to take off my makeup, and used it all over my face.. and kinda durred myself cuz thats kinda bad to use all over ur face, but I used a toner overtop of it(astringent) and today, my face feels amazing!! yes, i have like 3 tiney break outs.. but its noting to crazy..
