Purely coincidentally, the latest film I've posted for my "Sixty Symbols" series of films about physics deals with the first nuclear test...

Was intrigued to compare the two.. particularly that the North Korea test is believed to be 20KT, same as Trinity!!!?

Or is that not a coincidence?

Maybe 20kt is the yield of a simple gun-type uranium bomb.

20 kilotons is close to the smallest workable nuclear bomb you can make, so in that sense it's not really a coincidence.

Trinity was a test of an implosion driven Pu bomb, like the one on Nagasaki. The Hiroshima bomb was the simple gun driven U235 bomb. I suspect that these yields (10-20 kt) are typical of basic nuclear bombs.
