    Single-walled
Most single-walled nanotubes (SWNT) have a diameter of close to 1 nanometer, with a tube length that can be many thousands of times longer. Single-walled nanotubes with length up to orders of centimeters have been produced .
Single-walled nanotubes are a very important variety of carbon nanotube because they exhibit important electric properties that are not shared by the multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT) variants. Single-walled nanotubes are the most likely candidate for miniaturizing electronics past the micro electromechanical scale that is currently the basis of modern electronics. The most basic building block of these systems is the electric wire, and SWNTs can be excellent conductors. One useful application of SWNTs is

Perhaps the gecko can teach us an old use of tubes (setae)

Van der waals has been described as the force, the description could be the tubes are capturing the resonance of the contact surface and increasing the potential based on the 'structure' of the 'nanotubes' (found true in synthetic similations).

Hydrophobic is the frame to chemically describe this but perhaps there is new evidence to show the Van der waals and Casimir are related.

This offers the ability to describe the electromagnetic (resonant) interactions between the structures.

....that the nano tubes could be used to convey a potential across a medium in a vast range of the electromagnetic spectrum

i could see the nano tube as the perfect medium of conveying information

(see cytoskeleton of biology; it's been in use for a long time)
