Has anyone here used dry shampoo? Could a person just put baby powder on their head and then brush it out?

Never tried dry shampoo, but I've tried the baby shower thing. It takes some of the oil out of your hair, but for anyone who's got dark brunette or black hair like yours truly, it's impossible to brush out all the powder and keep it from looking dusty.

oh, I didn't think of that.
My daughter has dark brown hair. She's going camping and I was hoping I wouldn't have to buy the dry shampoo. crap

Ah, I love camping and boondocking! Would she entertain frenchbraiding it up and keeping a hat on? Makes it last longer between shampoos, and she can braid it up out of the way after she washes it.

Baby powder sounds like a disaster, I only wash my hair once every two weeks or so. But I think the braids are a good idea.

I have what is known as ethnic hair at most stores. If I wash it too often it dries out and breaks off. Plus it takes me forever to dry it. I don't have 4 hours everyday to devote to my hair.

Is there some rumor about going bald if you don't wash it often? Jeez I have so much hair I could donate it to people and still have enough for me.

Wow and I thought I was doing good only having to wash it once a week.
I can wash my hair on a Monday and it looks just as good on Fri-Sat. It actually looks better the second or third day  My hair is generally dry and just doesn't get greasy as fast as a lot of peoples do.
If I washed it too much it would be so dry it would be like straw.

Yeah, although I admit my hair starts to look pretty bad by the middle of the 2nd week, but I have to fake it until the weekend when I have time to wash and dry it.

Try salt instead of baby powder. I have been told that salt is what my great grandmother used.

Salt? If I threw salt in my dark hair, people would probably think I had lice.

Ha Ha! Then when I workout the sweat and salt would run down my forehead and burn my eyes.

I'm gonna see if I can talk her into a test run. I was told to use a hair dryer to blow the baby powder out.
    DUH!!
If she has electricity for a hair dryer, she will probably have running water.

When I was in the desert for a month, I usually just boiled water in a pot, stuck my head in enough to get it wet, shampooed, and rinsed with the rest. It gets it passably clean. Of course, I once went a week without washing it. Never again.
