Hello, does anyone know if a symbol from a drumset will conduct DC voltages?

Like say I hook a flashlight so that the switch is removed, if both the negative and the positive on the circuit touch the drum symbol, will the electricity conduct through it?

Could some one test this and then email your answer to eyetheskies@hotmail.com

    Thanks

I believe cymbals are made of brass..which does conduct electricity quite well. In your example with the flash light, you probably wouldn't want to directly connect a battery like that, as there would be almost no resistance in the circuit, and the batteries would put out as much current as they could, get hot, and possibly explode.

Did you have an idea to use..say a high-hat as a trigger for something? Just curious.

Absolutely, as they are made of copper-tin alloys, which is usually also used for telecommunications and electrical wiring. They are very good conductors. Be careful.

    Ooooo...I just thought of something...

Electrically isolate the top and bottom cymbals of a high hat, and connect one to the positive end of a super-low current, high voltage power supply, and the other to ground. You could throw in a potentiometer (variable resistor) to adjust the arc length.

Turn down the lights, and everytime you use pressed on the high hat peddle and brought the two cymbal close enough...bad ass electrical arcs would dance between the cymbals..might look pretty cool.

Guess that's why they call you MacGyver
