i am relatively new to the avira antivirus free version.
the thing is i am having problems with understanding the function of the 'deny access' function.

i was visisting a football(soccer) news realted site and then i was informed about this threat.

Virus or unwanted program 'HEUR/HTML.Malware [heuristic]'
detected in ....
Action performed: Deny access
there were 3 options-"quarantine","deny accesss","ignore".normally, i would prefer the infected file to be completely removed from my computer(so i would normally either delete it or quarantine and then delete it).but since "deny access" was the default,i thought that may be it is the preferable action and will stop the file from being downloaded.but i am not sure what exactly it did.

can somebody explain to me what exactly this deny access thing does?
also,is it stil in my computer?then how do i remove it?i actually cleaned the tempary IE files.
i also searched the content.IE5 place in the temporary internet files folder where it was shown to be present.but there wasn't anything with that name.

The deny access aspect is it stopping something for the internet from being run as a script, or shadow downloaded from the site.

I run the pay version of Avira, as it is the best AV software there is. One thing I really like is the fact that they have a dedicated Avira forum where both the engineers and tech support respond directly to questions.

If you ask there you will get detailed answers.

hm, you need to pick an AV program that fits your computer system the best. also you need to know what those AV programs include. some do have an anti-spyware program included, and blah blah.

anyway,

for vista the AV "avast home edition" ain't bad.

kaspersky is nice.

i never tried out that nod32 though i heard it's quite decent

btw, i highly disapprove of mcafe.
i tried out AVG..and i hate it.

also, to avoid scripts to run freely you should get firefox, and install those two add-ons:

NoScript
ABP(adblock plus)

edit: i'd post links...but this board doesn't allow me since i do have way too few posts. anyway...google is your friend.;)
