    Nice poem.

    *'Twas the night before elections*
    *And all through the town*
    *Tempers were flaring*
    *Emotions all up and down!*

    *I, in my bathrobe*
*With a cat in my lap*
    *Had cut off the TV*
    *Tired of political crap.*

    *When all of a sudden*
    *There arose such a noise*
*I peered out of my window*
    *Saw Obama and his boys*

*They had come for my wallet*
    *They wanted my pay*
    *To give to the others*
*Who had not worked a day!*

    *He snatched up my money*
    *And quick as a wink*
    *Jumped back on his bandwagon*
*As I gagged from the stink*

    *He then rallied his henchmen*
    *Who were pulling his cart*
*I could tell they were out*
    *To tear my country apart!*

*' On Fannie, on Freddie, *
    *On Biden and Ayers!*
    *On Acorn, On Pelosi'*
    *He screamed at the pairs!*

*They took off for his cause*
*And as he flew out of sight*
*I heard him laugh at the nation*
*Who wouldn't stand up and fight!*

*So I leave you to think*
    *On this one final note-*
    *IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM*
    *GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!*

Whatever your misguided and ill informed reasons are Buffalo, I didn't think you had it in you to vote Democratic. And frankly, I still don't.

Just because someone disagrees with you does not mean they are a Democrat Buffalo. As stated on several occasions, I am an Independent and a former Republican. Until the Republican Party can get its act together I will be voting against the Republican Party...as I simply cannot support the amoral practices of the Republican Party.

No matter who you vote for they are all going to forget about you when the election is over and only find ways to make money for themselves and their corporation handlers. If they can't get more from the taxpayer they will just make excuses and print more money for themselves as they did a few months ago. Taxpayers are screwed no matter who gets elected and that is a fact.

In the past I would have agreed with you. But I think Obama is not as concerned about money as he is his place in history and what he can do for the American people. And I think this is what scars the hell out of his political opponents both inside and outside the Democratic Party. Notice how he is careful to always praise the praiseworthy aspects of McCain before he attacks his policies. The man is truly an exception in American politics.

The man is a silver throated lawyer that will swoon your emotions into thinking he is everyones friend until he is in power and then the truth will be known.

Who are the funny conservatives? (Unless you count the possibility that they are conservatives only ironically, then that would be funny.) Other than Dennis Miller, whose humor quotiennt declined rapidly as his politics listed to the right, "conservative comedian" just isn't ringing any bells.

I think that is the mark of a good leader. In order to get people to do things, you have to be able to motivate them...George II can barely string words together much less give a motivational speech.

Now I do not agree with Obama on each and every aspect of his platform. I don't expect that to ever be the case with any candidate. But that does not mean that I have to oppose him on every issue. Remember, we are not koolaid loving Republicans of the George II brand.

Democrats aren't allowed a sense of humor

Hadn't you heard, Mr. Roam? Democrats and liberals aren't allowed to have a sense of humor.

Whenever a we show it, there's always a conservative nearby to take us seriously and throw a fit.

Actually Tiassa, it was a Liberal who took your post seriously:

And that is were my comments were addressed to.

Actually I did find your post humorous, that is why I didn't comment on it, and again like joe, you prove my point.

    Notes on comedy

You didn't follow the other part of the conversation? Like GeoffP's miniature tantrum?

After all, you'll notice I didn't comment on your post in that thread.

You've overlooked one possibility, Mr. Roam. I'm aware that you're trying to be funny. Trying, of course, is the operative word. But the humor fails. Rather, it's just stupid. Oooh! Look! A conservative dimwit writing bottom-shelf satire based on talking point clichés! Let's all laugh and pretend there's something original about that! (A Bugs Bunny quote comes to mind: "Mommy! Look at the funny fish!")

So what, dude? Enjoy. Laughter is the best medicine, and whatever gets you off is just fine with me. There is, after all, a legitimate market for idiotic humor. But if you're expecting some sort of broad-spectrum laughter and applause, you ought to try good jokes. I mean, "Why did the pervert cross the road?" is a lowbrow joke, indeed, but it's got a third-leg up on the spam in the topic post. And "The Night Before Christmas"? That one was overdone years ago. Ooh, a thick, conservative mad-lib. It's not that people don't see the joke. Rather, it's just not a funny joke. That's all.

For instance, watching Condi, Rummy, and Dick stomp around as the Hammer Chorus while George Dubya jackboots "Waiting for the Worms" would only be funny if someone put some kind of effort into it. In the meantime, neocon Nazi jokes are utterly passé.

Jesus, what's up next? Black men and watermelon? Really, I laughed at that cartoon when I was eleven. Oh, I know. How about the Ayatollah scarecrow and the Jewish crows? The unsolicited tip: Overused stereotypes are only funny if they are deployed in some extraordinary manner.

Note to Mr. Buffalo, I think you should cut your losses and start another thread or you can continue to entertain us...your choice. You are too predictable.
