Unwatchable.

There, I said it.

Now, I'm aware that many Hollywood celebs chose the occasional "blockbuster" movie in order to bring home a big paycheck so that they can continue to do the small budget movies, so I'm willing to forgive this indiscretion on Mark (as in "Marky Mark" fame) Wahlberg. Yeah, what have we come to when Mark Wahlberg is an accomplished actor (and he has been ingenious in chosing his roles wisely: Boogy Nights, The Happening, We Own The Night, Three Kings, The Big Hit (a great movie, damnit!), and Invincible so that gives him the leverage in chosing some not-so-great-films (Planet of the Apes, Shooter, The Italian Job), but this movie was horrible with a capital "H".

Go see it. You'll see what I mean.

Suspicious, if you ask me.

Yes. IT was. And I love Mark Wahlberg. If I were in high school, I'd have his poster in my bedroom.

I was expecting a Sin City-esque movie that was an utter orgy of violence frolicking in a pool of human blood and entrails (and I love Sin City). What I got was a sanitized comic strip style movie that never brought the action to the fevered pitch that I've come to enjoy in these kinds of movies.

You should see Shoot 'Em Up. Not much of the story but very stylish violence...

Saw it. Clive Owen was okay. The movie had some uber interesting parts and some nice graphic scenes.

It was pure amazing. It was like Wanted, which was orgasmic, but better. If you liked Wanted, you'll love Max Payne.

That's a damn shame...I've heard this was a dud...but I really like Mark Walberg. He has become a pretty damn good actor since his boy band days.

He was never in a boy band, that was his brother Donnie. He was a solo artist and a wannabe white rapper.

i beg to differ:

Music career
Wahlberg first came to fame as the younger brother of Donnie Wahlberg of the successful 1980s and 1990s boy band New Kids on the Block. Mark, at age thirteen, had been one of the group's original members, along with Donnie, Danny Wood, Jordan Knight, and Jonathan Knight. Uninterested in the group's bubblegum pop and squeaky-clean image[citation needed], however, he soon quit. It was his departure that eventually allowed Joe McIntyre to take his place as the fifth member of the group.

Wahlberg began recording as Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, earning a hit with "Good Vibrations" from the album Music for the People. The record was produced by brother Donnie and later hit #1 on The Billboard Hot 100, later becoming certified as a Platinum single. In the video, widely broadcast on music video channels, Mark was shown boxing, lifting weights and showing off his bare, well-muscled torso.[10] The second single, "Wildside," peaked at #5 on Billboards Hot Singles Sales chart and at #10 on The Billboard Hot 100.[11] It was certified as a Gold single. Marky Mark opened for the New Kids on the Block during their last tour. The second Marky Mark LP, You Gotta Believe, wasn't as successful as the prior, yielding only a minor hit single in the title track. Wahlberg later collaborated with reggae / ragga singer Prince Ital Joe. The project combined rap and ragga vocals with strong eurodance music (as in the singles Happy People, United, Life in the Streets, and Babylon) courtesy of Frank Peterson and Alex Christensen as producers.

He briefly became embroiled in controversy when he appeared to endorse the homophobic comments made by Shabba Ranks when they appeared as guests on the British chat show The Word. When Ranks made the statement that "gays ought to be crucified", Wahlberg remained in silence at his comments, which made the public believe he agreed with them. He later publicly dissociated himself from Ranks' comments.

Mark's cocky, street-wise persona contributed to his fame. During concert performances, he was known for stripping to a pair of white briefs, gyrating his hips and rubbing his crotch.[12] In the dedication of his 1992 book Marky Mark, co-authored with photographer Lynn Goldsmith, Wahlberg says in the preface that "I wanna dedicate this book to my cock".[7]

I found Wanted was only good if you agreed to forget everything you know about everything for the duration of the movie. Things like basic physics...

I chose to believe that they had some special power that allowed them to move the bullets. I patently refuse to believe that they could somehow "throw" the bullet fast enough to make a curveball.

Or that a bullet could pass through like 8 people's heads while moving in a perfect circle...

A bullet wouldn't curve no matter how fast you swung your arm, because the only axis it can rotate along in the barrel is the lengthwise one.

It would probably be possible with a musket ball. I know from experience that it works with paintballs.

Smoking Aces was pretty good. I also recently saw Shoot em up, and really enjoyed it. It was hilarious. Could have done without the bad guy being the "evil gun corporation", but the movie was still a lot of fun. Who'd have thought that carrots were such deadly weapons?

My son and I were just discussing Max Payne today at dinner, and he predicted it would suck simply because it was a video game movie.

Come on String, you should know by now that any movie that's based on a video game is going to be deplorable. I have serious doubts about the Halo Movie also, that's being Produced by Peter Jackson

You know how this "bullet" was shaped, and the exact mechanics of the gun? And the physics of how the Wanted world works? It never said explicitly that this was the exact same as our world right now. But it was A MOVIE. But you know all about movies..

The story is nothing like the game, it just has the same bad ass character. There is seriously almost nothing alike in the story vs the game compared to what you'd expect.

Who cares? Point is it was one of those things that makes you think "what the fuck was that supposed to be?", I know that doesn't bother some people but it bothers me. It bothers me because it gives the writers license to just make something up any time they write themselves into a corner. "How is she going to kill everyone now? Whatever, we'll just make the handgun fire a bullet that moves in a circle and has enough power to kill 8 people in a row."

Wanted. Entertaining? I guess. Good movie? No. Not to me anyway.

Okay I finally went to go see Max Payne. What happened I didn't understand anything. You actually have to try to make a movie that horrible. It made other video game movies seem like academy award winning pictures.

I saw it online, but it was just depressing. I can't complain though, I wasn't expecting anything, and the movie was I guess something. :)

Had I actually gone to the theater, oh buy, I would be bitching...
