Are there any groups or organizations, maybe even a company or corp, focusing on space travel?

I think the private sector is going to take off soon and lead space travel. Do you think space travel should be with government public spending or private spending?

I thought there was a company that allows private space trips for an insane amount of cash

Well, i think that the goverments should put forth the nessacary effort to secure the foot hold position of space travel, where space craft is standard issue, to the public.

It is after this basic foot hold that privatized space travel is left to its imagination and effort. So then traveling to mars, saturn, jupiter ect.... are private ventures. But the organization of travel to the moon and near earth space are cultured by the goverment, and regulated as to the type of craft navigating the area ect.....

A example of goverment culture, would be standard craft produced by goverment assembly, with a launching facility capable of handling the traffic, rescue patrolls, safty inspection before launch, re entry regulation.
the goverments need a way of safe guarding the general population from world disaters, such as a magnetic pole reseversal, large asteroid strike ect... it is a long list of events that can happen effecting the entire planet. so for the govement to have standard space craft that can be utilized for this purpose, would be normal real goverment operation, to place a second use on such craft as traveling vehicles for the genral public premotes the prepardness of such emeregency events and stablizies human familuarity with at least near by earth space.

This is just a foot hold, on space travel. if it whre up to me I would have millions of mercury space capsules built. designed with the capablity to carry a population into space in the event of world emergency.

The problem is that no private company has figured out a way to make money in space (with the exception of giving rich people short thrill rides). What, exactly, is a private company going to do in space? There are lots of good reasons to go into space (spreading the human species around so that a single event doesn't destroy us, doing science, etc.) but you can't actually make a profit on that - it's something that you have to spend a lot of money doing "for the good of humanity," which isn't something that corporations are really very interested in. About the only thing that I can think of doing in space to make money would be harvesting resources, but we're a looooong way from that being practical or economical (or even possible). If anyone thought that it was possible to make money in space, companies would be doing it already.

Nasor...your pathetic ignorance amazes me.

Private companies, things to do in space:

satellite business
sending millionaires
sending people for up to 200k for suborbital flight's

The reason why space seems like it does not produce money is because the technology has not developed far enough and investment into such a grand scale project is insufficient. This is a beginning of Space Age, an age which will in many centuries be seen as the humankind struggle to get past its homeland and unto the real world.

Possibilities in space business? ENDLESS. From colonization, to information services, to travel, to living in colonies in space, attraction...Life is to be born in space, everything you can think of, can be made in space a possibility!

And your poor reading comprehension amazes me. Of course companies make money launching satellites. The thread is about travel in space, not launching satellites. And I already mentioned giving rich people thrill rides, so why are you repeating my own post back to me and acting like you're telling me something new?

yeah but you make it seem like that is not enough...this is just a beginning of Space Age and we are doing all this!
