Its on a man made island? Wouldn't that affect currents?

I can't understand the attraction of this place.
For eight months of the year the temperature is hot, and for four of those you can hardly go outside during the day for heat and humidity. In high summer, the climate is probably the worst of any inhabited place in the world.
You are living on a man made island with no natural features, just hotels and rich idiot's boats.
You can tell a rich idiot's boat because it is as big as a house, and never leaves harbour.
Give me Ireland, with mountains and sheep and rain any day.
I'd even stay in a caravan.

Supposedly it has 11 billions of water.

And a shotgun to kill myself... In Dubai you are mostly indoors in this hotel or having fun in the water outside, neither times is the humidity relevant.

It's probably some childhood trauma I haven't worked through.
Water is nice for looking at, but as for being in it, no thanks.

With the ice melting at the polar regions scientists think within 100 years there is going to be a 10 foot increase of water around the Earth which means this place will soon be underwater! I wouldn't want to invest in this place knowing what was on the way.:itold:
Thats probably true for New York as well.

As well as my home, Key West! But I;ll be long gone by that time so I really could care less about what happens to my little home on the water.:p

Duh!!! Its called Atlantis! Those guys really plan ahead. ;)
Dubai at current time, has more workers than civilians. It is a fast growing metropolis of buildings, and Dubai will have the largest building in the world. It will have over a 1000 shops in just one corner of the amazingly built city. It will contain island resorts, which are man-made islands where David Beckham has bought his newest house.
And the cost of all this? Billions and billions and billions of pounds.
It's good for a country that makes the greater part of the money from oil. So keep buying your oils everyone, and let's make Dubai into the next greatest polluter.

When the oil runs out, or there is an alternative fuel. it will become a ghost town.
It'll be Atlantwas.

Dubai has little oil revenue -- but it has celebrity -- and celebrities.
When it begins to look less new, when it loses fashionability, when the glitterati move on, it is doomed.
In a generation from now, Dubai will be a semi-ruined abandoned experiment -- and a byword for squandered wealth.

Las Vegas getting the wrong end of the economic turndown, business is down, constructions halted...
