I wonder what they'll say about modern computers 20 years from now. I think the first thing they'll laugh about is all the damn cables we have flying around a typical computer.

I bought my first PC when it had 1 gig processor and a one gig HD it was a Compaq Presario. It had Windows 98 Second Ed. with it.That was about 10 years ago and now I'm on my third system which I built myself. I paid less than 1,000.00 for it complete but last time I built my PC it cost me over 1500.00. The next one I build will cost over 1500.00 so the addage that things get cheaper isn't always true.

I always pay the same, around $4-500, both for desktop or laptop. I don't see why should you keep paying MORE, when systems are getting cheaper...
A 3 years newer system should give you way more for the same price... Also, unless one has special needs, there is no reason to go over $6-800.....

Hell, at Walmart you can get a whole system with monitor and printer for $600...

My brother's laptop is 1450, my dad's is 750, mine is 1300, my mom's work laptop is around 600ish, my dad's work laptop is probably around 700. These are all laptops. Quite nice, if you ask me.

So, if you can buy a nice laptop for $600, why would you buy one for $1400?? Of course, I am assuming you are not incredibly rich, if yes, I am sorry...

Some laptops have more fitted to them (Higher RAM, faster processors, great sized screen, better GFX card etc) or have extra software installed (Be that OS or actual programs) and this is usually what bumps the price up.

Well, 2 things I found funny:

He kept buying computers for more and more, although with technological improvements price keeps dropping as the picture shows. Also no matter what priced laptop his family bought, he liked all of them....

My main point was that for most users the basic desktop/laptop is just fine for websurfing and moderat gaming...

They all had different uses. This one, my dads, and my brothers are pretty good for gaming. The other two, work laptops, are very fast at compiling projects(programming). I was just saying, 450 seems a bit cheap nowadays. My family pulls in about 100k a year, minus taxes, and my brother's heading off to college next year, so we're not too rich, I guess.

I love working at a recycling company...I just bought a system for $60. 3.6 Ghz HT P4, 4 gigs of ddr2 4200, a 320 gb hd, and dvd-rw burner. Pretty nice little system for the price.

My first computer was a Hewlett Packard Pavillion and cost almost $ 3000,00. Nietzsche says it was a piece of shit, but I liked it.

Most girls just don't get technology. Anyone know what's up with that?
