    Anyone remember MewSkitty? He used to be a regular here at sciforums.
    Anyways, I was browsing another forum (enotalone.com) and found a thread commemorating the one year anniversary of his suicide. And yes, it's the same MewSkitty that posted here. Same DOB and life story.

    His suicide note:
    http://www.enotalone.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1885353

    The one year thread:
    http://www.enotalone.com/forum/showthread.php?t=247566

    MewSkitty's last SciForums thread:
    http://www.sciforums.com/showthread.php?p=1315813

    I was shocked and sad to hear about this. MewSkitty may have been half-retarded, but he was highly authentic and curious. I'll miss the guy.

    Wow. I don't even know what to say. Him and I talked quite a bit over instant message, and I kind of liked him.

    I was actually wondering why he was never online anymore, and I was trying to contact him.

    He writes beautifully. I remember a while ago when one of my friends committed suicide, it really makes you feel helpless in this world. I unfortunately never met MewSkitty, but tears have welled up in my eyes. This happens much too often :bawl:

    I even bought him a birthday present, about a week after his birthday. I bought him the CD that he wanted. That was his last birthday present ever. This is just weird. I've never had anyone I know commit suicide. I just wish I had found out sooner.

    I vow that this will not ever be a thread started about me. I never knew him either, but I understand far too well.

    After a long absence I thought I'd take a look in to see what's been going on in SF. I wasn't expecting a thread like this..

    I'm upset to hear that MewSkitty took his life. From what I remember of him, he was a decent guy, with something positive to say and not a person to make enemies.

    That these internet relationships, which the majority of people will see as naive or ill-perceived, led MewSkitty to end his life make it that much more tragic. The casual reader of the newspaper that Xerxes linked to probably wouldn't be able to relate. Clearly, these relationships were real and of such a magnitude to MewSkitty that he was broken by them.

    In a way I can relate, as I'm sure a few people can here on SF. Not so much the relationships, as the way you can be consumed by the internet. What starts off as a relaxing few hours a week on the net can turn into 16 hours a day online with your people, your places and routines, which are every bit as real as their real-life counterparts.

    RIP MewSkitty

    This has had a bigger effect on me than anticipated.
    Speaking of which, has anyone seen the latest episode of House? (death changes everything) I watched it right after posting the thread. Kind of puts things into perspective.

    Makes me wonder what's really going on in the lives all you other users in cyberspace.
    I tend to think of the internet as a medium invulnerable to the "physical self". People get into arguments.....tell stories about their lives.....say all kinds of crazy things, but most of it's not taken seriously. It's just banter..........or so I thought

    Maybe it can also show that speaking negatively to people online can give just as much of a negative effect as saying them in person.

    I know there have been times where I've said mean things to people online I would never be able to say in person without feeling extremely guilty.

    Maybe sometimes we should be more careful with the decisions we make and what we say to each other, because even if it may not lead to suicide, it may still hurt a person more than you may think - which in turn could even make that person hurt others.

    Never knew him, but he seemed like a nice guy who was just extremely unlucky, its sad that people like him have to go.

    I have missed this thread and all related threads. I feel so sad, and I literally
    crying here. Poor kid.. I have never knew the kid, but I hope that he finds
    happiness in heaven, and I truly hope that this kind of case will be the last one.
    To everyone who have ever feel offended by me intentionally or unintentionally,
    I apologize.

    Sending prayer for MewSkitty. May you rest in peace.

    If

    If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
    If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too:
    If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
    Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
    Or being hated don't give way to hating,
    And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

    If you can dream---and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think---and not make thoughts your aim,
    If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
    And treat those two impostors just the same:.
    If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
    Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
    And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools;

    If you can make one heap of all your winnings
    And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
    And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
    And never breathe a word about your loss:
    If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
    To serve your turn long after they are gone,
    And so hold on when there is nothing in you
    Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

    If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    Or walk with Kings---nor lose the common touch,
    If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
    If all men count with you, but none too much:
    If you can fill the unforgiving minute
    With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
    Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
    And---which is more---you'll be a Man, my son!

    He was hearing voices in his head. Sad story. My condolences to the family.

    "The voices tell me to hurt other people and destroy things. I have never hurt another person in any way in my 15 1/2 years alive. They also say perverted stuff I will never repeat and I don't like it. I never lust for other people. The only female I even think about is my GF Monica."

    I have just noticed that in the [ENC]Myuu[/ENC] page, the death of MewSkitty has been
    published on our encyclopedia page on 24 September 2007, which is just two
    days after the press release in the online newspaper.

    Which means, a year ago, just right after MewSkitty/Chris commited suicide,
    somebody who went under user name Dumb n00b update the news in our
    wiki page and possibly none of us noticed :bugeye:

    Here is the editing history of that particular date:
    http://www.sciforums.com/encyclopedia/index.php?title=Myuu&diff=16042&oldid=15311

    The loss of MewSkitty/Chris was written in subtitle No. 17.

    Yeah ---- that portion of the article is in poor taste whoever did it. I just editted it out of the article.

    I'm OK with the sort of humor that's done respectfully. The rest of the article is pretty funny, and has taken on a life of its own as a sort of running gag (strays away from lampooning its creator, and is simply amusing by itself).
