From another thread came the idea of a pandemic spreading and the increased threat of modern transportation being able to help the spread of such a disease or infection while another person argued the advances in today’s’ medicine would also help prevent a pandemic from being disastrous in our time. In a way of sort of crossing each argument out, however it got me thinking

Has society become less civilized in the way we interact with each other as I see so much arguing, bickering, name calling, and self righteousness?

One would think with all the modern advances in communication, technology and education not to mention all the self help like Dr. Phil and Oprah , society (humans) would be father advanced then we seem to be.

Although as a whole society is so much farther advanced than at any time in the planets history with communication, technology and education it just seems we are so much farther behind in such things as world hunger, AIDS, crime, education, universal health care etc…

when as a human society we now have more ability to offer solutions to these same world issues but can’t seem to accomplish them..

What is our (mans’) excuse for this?

There are many reasons for the lack of advancements but I'd like to ask one question first, what are "advancements" and who actually would recieve them to you?

The reasons there are fewer advancements is because of societieies worry about jobs as one example. If you advance in one area you take away from another area in many instances. Greedy people also hold back advancements because they want to make as much as they can with whatever they developed for as long as they can.

solving world hunger, poverty, AIDS etc are advances, not to mention medical cures such as cancer etc.. Today I read the USA will give 1 billion to Georgia, why not spend that on cancer research or AIDS cures??

Everyone is plugged into their iPods(or whatever) and could really give a shit about anything else outside their, free-texting 5 friends, circle of influence.

We've got it coming. (downfall of society, compartmentalization of men/women, the coming generation(s) of slaves serving the Elite). We can only hope the endgame is something progressive, like colonizing the solar system and/or getting rid of useless people.

Already hundreds of billions and even a trillion dollars has gone into finding a cure for cancer, AIDs and other diseases.

Actually, the world has always beens as you described. People have always been name-calling and such. Its never written in history books, but the people of a thousand years ago behaved very much like they do today. Teenagers in 500 A.D. would behave the same way as teenagers today. Albeit, what they would do in their spare time would be diffrent, but the behavior is the same.
