The standard wallpaper map is C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper.

If you made it a background straight from your bowser (Firefox), in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox

If you made it a background from your computer, in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows Photo Gallery

I use Vista btw. I think it's different for XP.

Search for "internet wallpaper.jpg" using the search function.. I believe it's called that way.

Do you still have it on your desktop, or have you since put another picture on your desktop from internet explorer ?
The new one erases the old one..

The Path is - "C:\Documents and Settings\*username*\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft"(no quotes of course) where *username* is the name of the current user.

In that file look for "wallpaper1.bmp"(no quotes)

That's most likely what you are looking for.

There were no files found. Do you want to keep searching?
    No.
The path you gave me does not work with my username.
No further advice I give up,.

    ?

Just start at C:\ in my computer and browse there in windows explorer.

It may be in the 'Internet Explorer' file there.

Hmm ok. Look for "Internet Explorer Wallpaper.jpg" in "C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer"

I think that's the path for XP. If it's not search for "Internet Explorer Wallpaper.jpg" using the search tool.
If you cannot find it like this, it's simply not there.

Also, do you still have it on your desktop, or have you since put another picture on your desktop from internet explorer ?
The new one erases the old one..

You could open a windows explorer, hit "search" and then select "pictures" in the left window...and search for all pics on your hard drive...then sort by location. You should be able to find it that way.
