I've been reading some books on Gestalt Therapy. I was wondering what ya'll think about it. Also, has anyone heard of how effective it is, and in what situations it is effective in?
Useful links first: http://www.psycho.uni-osnabrueck.de/fach/gta/ http://www.sonoma.edu/users/d/daniels/Gestalt1.html I really have not read enough on Gestalt theory to make a big post about it.
The links that you gave were primarily Gestalt Theory, I'm referring to Gestalt Therapy (There is a bit about Therapy on the first one). Although it wouldn't seem so, there is quite a bit of difference between the two. Gestalt Therapy is grounded in theory, but the techniques that the therapy uses are no where covered by in the theory aspect. If you would like to learn more about the therapy aspect, look up Fritz Perls, he is the founder of this.
