I have no clue where this thread would belong, so I guess here Basically, private vs public education; private education can be better, and usually is, however the problem is not everyone can afford it. Private schools usually do better than publics schools, and are usually better equipped Public schools, on the other hand, are good only in so far as they are available to the public; however they usually cannot compete with private schools, and alot of taxpayer money isn't used wisely in the first place. Education is no doubt important, but should we go entirely privatized, or go privatized with only assitance for the poor? Or should keep the current system?
I think school vouchers are the way to go. The idea is that everyone gets a voucher for a certain amount of money. The parents can take it and spend it at any school they wish - public or private. That way, schools that do a lousy job won't continue to get money anymore, and all schools would improve. Having the ability to choose where your money is spent is definitely the way to go because then even the public schools would be competing for customers, and it would increase the quality of education across the board.
Education should be available to everyone, everywhere. With the advent of the computer and internet education can now reach anyone who wants it. The problem is that it isn't being utilized as it could ultimately be used. The computer can be the greatest way to spread knowledge to the masses with little money needed. Why isn't this being done? Are the higher academic institutions just holding back putting their courses on line or what seems to be the problem here? Most, not all, courses can be done over the internet as well as testing. So then why not save allot of money and get this system up and running?
