I have often wondered why some names are so common among Jewish people. They appear to favour precious metal,s mountains and stone. For example, Goldberg, Goldstein, Silverstein, Bergstein and so on. I am not interested in hearing from anti-semites. I would like to hear from anyone who can explain the choice of names.
Many of them are Germanic or Polish in origin, named after local professions or towns. Jews didn't traditionally have last names until about the 18th century, it's a European tradition.
Thanks for the only helpful answer I've had. There were Jews in England in about the 12th century but I have no idea what names they used.It may be that they only used first names as your post suggest.
Imagine being you and being mistaken for an intelligent person. Now, wouldn't that make you feel good.
Thats actually funnier than the Goldstein [which I did not get? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!]. You're an atheist priest. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
