I'm currently Studying for exams, and noting that a vast majority of people here are in uni, or have been in uni at some stage of their life, I'm looking for any good study tips.. i've been through a fair few, and so far some seem to work, and others don't.

Studying the night before...helps.. but doesn't do it well..

Cheat. It's all a big hoax anyway, isn't it? The professors only want to read their answers in your test booklets, after all.

If that's not practical, I suggest getting plenty of sleep, eating well and frequently enough so that you're not hungry between meals. Also, no drugs or liquor. Then, simply study hard as usual, no real tricks involved. If you don't know the material there is nothing that can help you now other than suggestion number one, But, sounds like you do know it. Good luck.

Turn off your internet, go to a library (to have study environment), make a
short summary of everything you read, then test yourself: let say you have
8 chapters to read, a total of 80 subchapters. Try to explain each of the 80
subchapters with your own words without looking into your summary sheet.
Compare the result with the summary or the book. Repeat until perfect. Pay
attention on emphasized part given in the lecture. Works for me all the time.

    Good luck!

my revision technique was always to try and condense my notes down to the most important points then go through them to check i understood/could remember them then practise papers.
lots and lots and lots of practise papers.

Dude, Studying the night before might get you a bare minimum pass but for the most part you could be perceived an underachiever. You should never leave study to the last minute.

In essence you have to take into consideration Examinations and Qualifications in general are suppose to give a reference of your aptitude to the subject you are dealing with. In short the subject should be second nature, much like say riding a bicycle can become or swimming.

The main reason that some people have problems with studying is because of how it's all condensed into a relatively short time period, rather than spending decades specialising in a subject students get pushed through the academic sausage factory with limited time to take in the information and for the most part the anxiety of trying to learn what is suppose to be known in such a short time.

So what can I say... Well don't get stressed out with your studies, take it easy, be fond of the subject you deal with rather than loathsome. Try to take it in, if you have problems taking it in then this is where it's best to pal up as a study group with other students. If you have problems in an area, State to the group you are having problems understanding it and the group can attempt to work out how to better explain it making it easier for all in the group to understand. (In fact explaining the same thing in multiple ways makes the information more easily digested)

As I mentioned to begin with, never leave it to the last minute (I watched a number of students pull the "creating a whole month's project in one night" and believe me the grades were not the best).

    - Don't put off studying until you have to cram, start plenty of time ahead.
    - Test yourself after each chapter.
    - Look through the material one more time the morning before the exam, extra attention to what you think are the most important parts.

It may seem you make it hard on yourself this way, but it works.

Really now, just try to get a good nights rest before you take any tests that helps you to be fresh and relaxed in the morning. Cramming the night before doesn't help and leaves you tired and depressed the next day, good luck.
