The new search engine supposed to compete with Google I did a search on KMGuru and found a boat load of webpages from sciforums... http://www.cuil.com/search?q=kmguru Enjoy
Bleh, I've done a couple of searches already that turned up 0 results from cuil but plenty from google. Very disappointing for a supposed google-killer.
I have noticed a Cuil bot on my website, however Linkwalker, Googlebot, Msnbot along with a bunch of others have done a far better job of spidering.
Dead on arrival or may be they are hyping up so that they can get the money to store all those indexes somewhere.....
A little more info has appeared on Cuil unfortunately I haven't check the source for accuracies yet (That will come with an update, however posted in a comment on this page" http://www.popsci.com/grouse/article/2008-07/apple-%26-google-backlash-ahoy )
I like the new colour scheme, but unfortunately, igoogle has her beat. Unless she can offer a customization that good, it's not gonna do it for her.
It still lacks a little i.e. No Cache system (If they fixed up some sort of history system like Archive.org to a search engine they would be laughing) No report system (Searching my full username "Stryderunknown" actually came up with porn sites, I can honestly say I've no affiliation with them. So there is no way to disable it from the safe search.) Search strings can find themselves parsed on other sites. (Namely other sites can have search boxes that tunnel the search through and generate false hits) Future features they should probably try to add is just a login to a personalised search when you can Block sites you don't want to search, and perhaps add that to some overall blacklist that then makes up the generic safe search etc.
May be by hyping up...they will collect some money to really start the operation. It is like making a new chip. It costs about $4 Billion to be in the game to start with....without some serious money.... Google is way ahead of yahoo and microsoft in this infrastruture....
"Cuil is managed and developed largely by former employees of Google: Anna Patterson, Russell Power and Louis Monier.[5] The CEO and co-founder, Tom Costello, has worked for IBM and others.[6] The company raised $33 million from venture capital firms including Greylock." "The company says that Cuil is Irish for knowledge and hazel."
Dude KM, Google is in Milking phase as Steve Balmer put it, but seriously if you take a look at MSN Search (Not necessarily Online search) infrastructure, it has gotten way more advanced than Google. Granted i like google and others do too. But IMHO it is MSFT which is doing most of the innovation these days (Apple people don't start Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!). Google copied widgets from vista for example. Off course i am not an expert so i could be wrong. In which case, apologies for wasting your time Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Not an issue Rick...we all are outside looking in. It is difficult to know what type of strategies these people have...time will tell... When I was working for a Fortune 50 company, I was a member of their Competitive Intelligence and Business Strategy group....we usually bring up all kinds of stuff...in the end, the boss decides what course of action to take....
