View Full Version : Indiana Jones 4
I was in the "Attack of ze clones" Thread and it seems a lot of people are fans of both Harrison Ford and the Indiana Jones movies.
It is now official that there is a new Indiana Jones work in the process. Harrison has apparently signed or almost singed up for it and so has Sean Connery (Indys father).
There is absolutaly no doubt that this movie will gross big $ at the box office, and maybe even topple some records, so in that regards it is almost inevitable.
What do you think about this? Is it a good idea or are you happy to let the classics be left untouched?
What story would you like to see? One from the novels or games or a new one?
What actors would you want to see star in and make cameo appearances?
Personally im over the moon that Sean Connery has signed up as it will add that extra dimension to the film.
In terms of a storyline i would love to see a new story, one which will stay (hopefully) secret until it is released. If they do recycle a story, the one from the Fate of Atlantis game was great.
I would love to see Sean Patrick Flannery (Young Indiana Jones) play a part in the movie. Whether it involves a story where it starts off when Indy is young (Like The Last Crusade, but actually contributing to his quest), and be played by him, or perhaps to some extent Indys "partner" or "student" and they go on the quest together. Like how Marcus Brody did in Last Crusade.
Anyway thats all wishfull thinking
What do you all think?
I open it up to everyones valued opinions.

I love Indiana Jones myself, one of the movie series I simply consider classic. But seriously though I like the idea mainly cause I'll get to see an Indiana Jones movie in theatres I don't think they should have made another one. Seriously the others were so incredible and this one is just for $ and will suck big time, plus it will probably be loaded with CGI and that'll make it look like shit. Plus Harrison Ford is getting kinda old to be Indy, he is still awesome and so is Sean COnnery too! Is Spielberg and Lucas gonna team up to make it or what?
Anyway, bottom line: It'll suck because its just to make money off the series and its been too long and now there is too much technology.

You have to face it: There has never been a Spielberg movie where everyone unanimously agreed that it sucked. I liked A.I. It is true, the CGI is a threat to a good storyline, and with Lucas pulling all the strings I'm a little doubtful but confident in Hollywood's top director.
As for the storyline, I think something involving jules vernian robots, nazis, a plot to take over the world, and uma thurman as the chick would absolutely rule.

I dont believe it is a good idea, whatever they make it wont live upto the great expectations that everyone will have for it. The classics should be left untouched in my opinion. The storyline should incorporate galloping monkeys. I would like to see robert de nero and al pacino in there. that would be funny as hell.

Pollux you said it all in a nut shell.
I think that if they brought back all of the old characters from The Last Crusade, aka sean connery, and had spielberg direct it then it would be awesome! I think that its a wonderful idea and that that movie would probably be one of the highest grossing movies ever. No cameos, I think that those make movies cheesey unless its a comedy like Austin Powers. I think that Harrison Ford is still in pretty good shape to make this movie to, hes not that old ya'll...he made Air Force One and i thought that that was a great movie, lots of action.
I think that part of this is just to make a good amount of $$$ but Im sure that if you got a writer who cared about the series and actors who loved playing their original parts and a good director who knows why people loved Indiana Jones in the first place then we are going to get one kick ass movie.

Okay I was wrong, read this its from scifi.com/scifiwire:
Darabont Hints At Indy IV
Frank Darabont, the writer/director who is penning the screenplay for the upcoming fourth Indiana Jones movie, is tight-lipped about the much-anticipated sequel's storyline, but revealed to SCI FI Wire that it will be set in the 1950s. That's in part to accommodate star Harrison Ford's age (the actor just turned 60), Darabont said in an interview.
Not surprisingly, Indy won't be facing down Nazis this time around, Darabont said. "We're going to give you some good villains, let me just put it that way," he said.
Darabont added that producer George Lucas and director Steven Spielberg are allowing Darabont (The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles) to bring his own ideas to the script. "It winds up being a pretty good collaboration, a good exchange of ideas," he said. But, he added, "at the end of the day, I'll be writing what they ask me to. I'll be giving them the story that they want, so in that sense, I'm an employee. But a very excited and engaged employee. And what a fun project to work on."
When probed for specific details—such as the rumors that Indy will have a son—Darabont said, "If I told you, they'd kill me. I wouldn't leave here alive. I'm sworn to secrecy." Indy IV will begin production in 2004 for a release in 2005.
See no Nazis, and he might have a son? WTF!!! You were right they are ruining it. Especially when they said that they want George Lucas to add ideas to the script, when was the last time he made a really good movie?! Really, when?!

FATE OF ATLANTIS AS THE PLOT WOULD BE SO AWESOME!!! I love that game, despite it being from about the time of the cambrian explosion.:D I have issues 1-10 of the old original Indy comic books in near mint condition, too. Not too shabby...:D :D

Lesion they would find a way to make it suck, they just hate us and think that we'd be happy with just great special effects. What about a plot line! NO NAZIS!!!! I cant even believe Im complaining that there are no nazis, we need nazis, I loved the nazis..........:bugeye:

There making because they know no matter what that it will make a ton of money. There not making it to be a good movie or a great movie, there making it to suck.

Has anyone else heard anything about the rumor that Natalie POrtman will be in to play the daughter of Jones? I don't remember where I got that from, however she would be a good addition to the movie's cast *ahem*. You know what I mean...
Indys daughter?
Has it been been said who the mother will be?

Now, before I say anything else. You must know that I work with TheRaider.Net, an Indiana Jones fansite.
One of the biggest things that is talked about on our board, is not what Indy IV will be about, but who will be in it, and if this will be the last.
Prehaps, IV won't be the final adventure, but the beginning of several more.
TheRaider signing out...
btw, for all those interested TheRaider.Net's The Raven Bar (http://www.theraider.net/theraven/index.php) talks about the lastest Indy news and rumors. Drop on by and check us out. We also use the vBulletin format, so nothing new to learn.

Hey wow, good to hear from you. Great site you have, Ive been there a few times.
As much as I would like to believe that there are going to be several more adventures, I seriously doubt it given the age factor of Harrison Ford. Granted he can still pull it off, but will he want to? surely not.
As to who will be in it, has there been any rumors as to Sean Patrick Flannery being in it?
If I were the author in charge of writing the Indy 5 story,
1. One idea would be to combine an Indy-style story with Sci-Fi.
Why not involve a "Roswell and Area 51 conspiration" ...
2. Other classic subjects not yet used in the Indy movies are King Arthur and magician Merlin ...
3. Atlantis
What do you think about those ... ?

I think this is a stupid idea. Is it supposed to be later on when Indy is old or what? I think the first 3 were good, so they should just leave it alone. Go out on a high note instead of reviving it.

1. Would be an interesting story, however the 3 other Indy movies were set in the 1940s so I dont think the whole Roswell thing had happened yet.
2. Im pretty sure there was a book written where he meets Merlin, but I think this would be a great idea.
3. They already made a relatively successful game from this idea and a comic mini-series, so I doubt it, that not to say i would want to see it.
