OK, I never really used them. Now I am trying to check one for a friend what kind of data is on it, and when I click on My Computer , Removable device, nothing happens, although poor drive seems to be searching.

Shouldn't it show some kind of content or do I need a program to access the data??

    1. In My Computer, has it been assigned a drive letter?
    2. You do have a disk in it, don't you?

yes, J. And yes. Now that I have read about it, I guess it is possible that the disk has been damaged and the drive is not being able to read it...Also I didn't install any kind of Iomega driver or program...

But I also tried with another computer that has been using it as a back up and it didn't read it either...

Does sound like a dodgy disk then. Does your friend have any other disks you can try?

Zip disks were the worst. They had a reputation for getting "the click of death" at the drop of a hat. I would try another disk, if you have one, just to determine if the drive is still working. If that disk reads, then your problem disk is hosed.

Chances are, your friends data is gone to the same place as MC Hammer's musical career.

    just couldn't resist.

Sy, when you put the disk in the drive, does it make a loud "click-click" sound? If it does...

Then it's like dropping your keys in hot lava...forget it..cause man...their gone!

so 'they' have possession of a 'gone'?...

or did you mean "they're" gone... as in the contraction for 'they are'?...

Zip drives are pretty bad. I thought you needed drivers for them.

One doesn't normally follow a question mark with an ellipsis. A question mark is usually considered punctuation enough.

"A question mark is usually considered sufficient punctuation." would be a more correct sentence structure...

Not really. I like mine better. Mine dances; yours hobbles.

But allow me to rewrite your post, as it has a confusing full stop in the middle. I can see why you included it, but still... it looks very awkward.

    You should've written:

A more correct sentence structure would be: "A question mark is usually considered sufficient punctuation."

You're wrong, of course. It would be no more correct and far more awkward.

Further, the post where you attempt to make your case is, frankly, just a mess.

(Moderators: please move this thread to Linguistics.)

You should not need to load drivers if you are using win XP...it should see the drive as a "removable disk". Loading the iomega drivers just gives you the little drive icons and a startup program that monitors the drive.
Most likely the disk is bad.

Touche', Sir (takes of hat and bows)

Geez...I have a little fun with Draq with his spelling, and this done turned into one of them thar gram-mar wars.
