Excuse the generic title. I'm looking for a program that will let me record music from a website (or just whatever sound it going through my computer's output channels) and then save it as an audio file. Any ideas?

Replay Music is another such program that allows you to record streaming music, so you can record your fave web radio stations, it costs about $30.

You will need to download the lame encoder if you wish to make mp3s with Audacity.
Mind you it is free and easy.

That being said i do like creatives MP3 player better than media player or winamp and it does have the ability to record stuff into .wav which can then be tranfered

Hi, as it is said that you may try to use record sound from PC sound card way to record music from a website. You need to play music on website and start to record right away.

Downloaded the WIN 7 beta version of Audacity, thanks for the link. I use Audacity to record from my old vinyl, been doing that with my old AMD 64 system, want to move that up to this AMD quad 64 system.

If you use a browser like Firefox the music file will be in your cache. No reason to use a separate program to retrieve it.
