Is this card any good? Is it better performance wise than the 8800 gt. I'm building a new pc but choosing the right graphic's card is a the question.

Check the other graphics threads. Cosmic or someone posted up some details about speeds and memory.

I'm buying a new graphics card too, so I've been doing some reading recently. The difference between the 9600GT and 8800GT is pretty small if you're talking about the '2nd generation' 8800GT (the 512mb models). Think of the 9600GT as a revision of the 8800GT, not really a step up performance wise. They both use basically the same chipset, G92.

I decided to wait a couple of weeks for ATI to release its new 48xx line of cards (June 18 or so). Benchmarks should be coming out any day now, and rumor has it the 4870 will outperform the 8800GTX cards by 20% or more, for less than $300. I just hope they don't drop the ball on their drivers again...

If nothing else it'll mean a price drop in Nvidia's cards.
