noticed a post that read something like 'no aussies allowed, cos you use strange words'. how often do we leave you guys puzzled? do you know what cut it out means? or get stuffed? bugger off? bloody hell? if anyone wants me to translate anything that'd be fine with me.

You guys use a lot of the same expressions as the Brits. I've picked up a sizable chunk of such vernacular from the Potter series. So yeah, I understand the great most of what you guys are saying. If there's some uncertainty I can always consult the holy Urban Dictionary. This is simply one of the greatest web applications that has come to existence. Behold: urbandictionary.com

Type in the phrase "Dutch oven."

    So francois,
You'll have no trouble filling in these blanks.

    Pointing Percy at the ........
Flat out like a lizard ......
    Wakey, wakey, hands awf .......
    Takagoodard .... .. .........
    Fair crack .... ... ....
Fair suck of the ...., or Fair suck of the ...... .......

    Or deciphering such common phrases as;

    yagoddabefarkinkiddun
    ennyfuggentoimbuddy, garmarnahlaveya.

'faseeyerarserounere aggen aarl pegyer boddermlibdathefriggin 'illoist an sedthebloody dogonya.

    See how you go.

I know the Pointing Percy at the pot one, Fair crack at the whip, I can guess the last blanks involve penises of some kind. The phrases, I think are You've got to be fucking kidding, any fucking time buddy and Come on, I'll have you. The closing was something like, If I see your arse around here again I'll [I think that's peg you] then an indecipherable word followed by at least I'll set the bloody dog on you.

    How well did I do?

Sorry guys, there's a bloody typo,

should have read.. boddermlibdathefriggin 'illsoist an sedthebloody dogonya.

'illsoist, as in Hills hoist, yes it's the ubiquitous clothesline.

    Well done all round.
Let me know if you want a couple more.
By the way, it's not much of an exaggeration, it's pretty much how it comes out.

. I know what those phrases mean you just mentioned. Sometimes I have no idea what the hell Spud is talking about though. I don't know if they are Aussie sayings or he has just been into the red wine again. lol

actually to be honest it depends. I have a hard time picking the acent from someone around california compared to my own but for a texes accent i always have to stop myself assuming they are ALL red neck morons simply by the sound of there voice.

Admitedly this is not just because of bush, i once had a guy from texes ask me where in the US Australia was. When i told him we were a different country he said "but you speak american". I can only wonder at his education if he doesnt even know his OWN country was invaded by england
