Now that's rather my point. I propose that not thinking about your death at least once a day is injurious.
There are so much more things to self-gratify with. So it's not really a lack of restraint, merely a new plethora of opportunities.
Or, indeed, horse before cart. I don't even think it's circular. I think people have always been multifariously depraved without, in the past, an opportunity to express it. Liberalisation and an explosion in consumer choice have merely provided the means.
