    I read a page from it and when it said he had 12 incarnations I just had to close it .:shrug:

    It's not bad, seems fairly typical of traditional zen literature. It will work if you do what it says, or not do, or,

    Why can't they say "I just thought of this new idea" instead of trying to say theu had 12 incarnations that gave them "enlightenment" to whatever they are talking about?

    There are people that talk about the same things without the religious references that could put off a skeptical westerner. I like U.G. Krishnamurti. Alan Watts is very good too.
