I remember this remote schoolhouse located in Millard, Nebraska that was known as the Hatchet House. Prior to arriving at the house you crossed Heartbeat Bridge in which the tires rolling over the wood planks made a sound like a heartbeat.

The story was that a school teacher in the 1920's slaughtered all of her students and buried their bodies in the basement. This building a boarded up small white structure located in a very rural area behind some trees. When you would show up at night there would be one "dusk til dawn" light shining over the sign that said "Portal School". The property was surrounded by a fence and in the back of the school was what was left of a playground.

One evening a bunch of us decided to go around to the rear and go down the only slide. When we made it around and climbed the slide you could see where there was a brick entrace leading to the celler. It looked like a passage to hell.

We all, except one wuss, went down the slide and then bailed out of there.

What places did you have when you were in High School that had a story and were real creepy?
