Well I was talking to some ppl from the the U.S and the topic of milk came up.
I was saying how a "BAG" of milk cost $4.59. They were laughing and saying "BAG" what are you talking about?

In Canada they sell (3) 1 litre bags of milk in one bigger bag. Then you put one of the bags in a container and cut the corner and pour........

The also sell it in Cartons, but only convenience stores carry Jugs.

Is this so unusual? Do they sell milk like this where you live?

yeah it is unusual...usually here we have dried milk in bags...not liquid...liquid milk is in cartoon bags or glass. Plastic releases toxins into milk after some time...and that high price of 4.59...yeah you sure are being ripped off. Of course I remember being in Toronto and the prices there were like higher than USA prices twice-fold.

They sell milk in glass bottles? You get 3 of those bags above for 4.59.
They have it in Cartons but it is not as popular. Hmmmmm I wonder if they sell it like this anywhere else.
I never thought anything of it, I thought they sold it like this everywhere.

I've seen bags like that in Saudi Arabia. But even there cartons are more popular.

We have the milkman come with cold milk at 6 am every morning in India. They get it from the buffaloes at around 5 am. I don't like the taste of all this pretreated milk in the cartons

I saw the thread title and thought this was a joke thread. After seeing nothing but carton and powdered milk all my life, that picture is just bizarre. :bugeye:

It should cut down on waste an packaging costs, but yeah I thought it was a joke thread too. In Aus we don't get those, we get cartons or plastic bottles.

I thought you were in NY or something.

We may even go to the same school. I'd give it 1/5 odds.

i remember a few years back a lot of shops started selling bags of milk, the craze only lasted about a month though, i think people were getting pissed off with how often they sprang leaks and soaked their car in milk.

personally i dont buy milk unless i run out on my weekend off, i just fill up a jug from the vat at work, its free and its not watered down or had the flavour nuked out of it like the stuff from the shops does.

Motherfucker, we got milk in bags all the time in public school. The best kind is chocolate. You can squeeze the bags and jamb the straw in and it would squirt out about 20 feet.

nah not here we have cartons and containers made of plastic recyclable and card board with waxy insides to preserve the flavour of flavoured milk and it tastes shocking sum of it

This is not unusual shorty. In fact, globally, it is the norm.
Remember, the US is almost always the oddity when it comes to units of measurement. Remember how almost 100 years ago the rest of the world agreed upon a standardized system of measurements (the S.I. system)??

Oh, except for the US... lol

    Hmm.. that's funny.

I'm in Canada and I went to the bank today, where I bought 500 US dollars for 477 Canadian.

    Hmmm......

well I been to Toronto some time ago...5 years ago.

Anyways I still think everything in Canada is 2x the price of US market...even with the loosing US currency to Canadian dollar...that 2x the price is high.
