Does anyone know how often Google satellite images are updated? Also, is there anyway to tell the age of the images that you are looking at?

look for any new developments that arent on there, then find out what date they occured, and keep going until you find the dates of the earliest one on there, and the oldest one not on there, that sholud give you an approximate date.

Some of those pictures are ancient. My home town (Meyerton) looks underdeveloped, with only the freeway, a short road, and a small number of houses. I was really disappointed...

I don't know precisely how old but in some of them I can see traffic jams of horse-drawn carriages.
