Does the Universe know it's there?

    If the universe doesn't know it's there, does it exist? Sure, we know it's there, but matter doesn't know itself from Atom. If I think, therefore I am - if the Universe doesn't, therefore it isn't?

    the universe has to be conscious because it produces life.

    Well, life is just a subset of the universe. If the universe is infinite, life becomes even less significant. How can you say the existence of life means the universe is conscious?

    why not? i don't really care. Life could be a subset in the bubble called the universe for all i know.

    Well, does it really make any sense at all to study matter, when matter itself doesn't know it's there?
