Anyway, I went to a doctors today to have an ECG scan (on my heart, I have extremely high blood pressure) and those of you thatve done it will know you have to take your shirt off and let them put the sticky things on you. Anyway that was all fine, but with my top off in front of the doctor, I just couldnt stop blushing, I'm sure my heart rate doubled when she was putting the stickers on me.... I mean I'm not fat, if anything my chest is kind of on the positive side, but i just couldnt help it. I mean when i'm with a girl in a more romantic nature, I'mm totally comfortable but just then with that doctor it was horrible. She noticed this and thought saying the words "I wouldn't be embarassed of a chest like that" would help... how wrong she was. i'm amazed I got out of there without dying of embarassment. Can anyone explain why this happpens? what is the evolutionary need for blushing, its just so annoying

The higher the cutaneous blood flow, the more heat radiates. Restriction of cutaneous blood flow curtails the loss of body heat, which is important in a cold environment. The circulatory system of the skin contains three major types of blood vessels that enable it to fulfill these two important functions. The first type are arteries, capillaries, and veins that serve mainly nutrition needs. The second type is the subcutaneous venous plexus that plays a major role in the conduction of heat, and contains a major fraction of the cutaneous blood volume. The third type are arteriovenous anastomoses which can be found in areas of the body especially exposed to maximal cooling like the hands, feet, nose, lips and ears. These areas are called apical structures and are richly innervated. The anastomoses connect cutaneous arterioles and venules directly, playing an important role in the reduction of blood flow in a cold environment (Rowell. 1993; Guyton. 1981; Rowell. 1974).

yes but the point is I'm not usually embarassed, so why did these seemingly normal thing make me so embarassed? she definitely complimented me after my blushing cosmic :/
