I'm starting this thread asanother thread is starting to go off topic.

The question is simply, what do you name your computer?

This can be what you call it when it doesn't work, or what you've named it for if it was networked (or if it truly is)

    for instance:

My computer names are Argonaut, Chaos and Oracle. (not the OS)

No prizes for guessing the theme, although when I post at sciforums, it's through Chaos.
Afterall what ever I do on the internet can be the beginning and shaping of my universe.

I can kind of give reasoning to the others, but it was really just to cover Greek Mythology. So Argonaut could be perceived as my original main powerhouse. It's in retirement now, but is still a glimpse of heroic days gone by.

My laptop is Oracle, because I can get information from anywhere, any time. (as long as I take my charger)

My 486x66 use to have a name, but its awaiting renaming. Afterall it's old but could still be of use if I could harness it through linux to Argonaut, but now I'm getting technical.

My network is named something completely different, but I can't tell you that incase you try to netbios your way in there.

Ultimate PC. Since computer related things are my main source of entertainment , I sink a ton of money into them (meaning you could call mine a "really blazing fast high end nerd computer")

When my computer is working nicely I call it Vex. When it's not I call it a big nasty pile of scrap and threaten it with large smashing things like anvils.

I haven´t named mine. Shame on me. I will get right on it. But it´s a she, that I know, turqoise and all (Imac) and I have placed a small Ganesh on top and a pink disco ball is hanging just above her. Any suggestions?

I have named by sewing machines though, they are Video-Girl and Snot-Missy.

Well, lets see. The 166 is named land mine for the booby traps it has come through. (Not unscathed, I might mention)

The other is named Diaster. (It always finds things and makes a mess of the computer.)

The machine I am using is called Angband and my old machine, in pieces needing a disk and OS[1], is Mordor. And I've had them longer than that film came out.

Since Win95, I use network and mount drives manually. I don't like long names with space in it, so my computer is named "Ace" and my bro's named "Tiger". There is another one named "ADSL", it was a soft router for quite a while until I bought a ADSL modem/router/hub combo box.
