BTW - that greeting is highly offensive to non-Muslims, as would be the greeting, "Merry Christmas" in Mecca.
Only if you are illiterate Eid = celebration Mubarak = greetings Btw, way to introduce negative energy into a happy thread.
"Eid refers to the occasion itself, and Mubarak is roughly 'may it become good for you', but the phrase is used in the same context that Merry Christmas would be." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eid_Mubarak Highly offensive, this thread should be closed immediately.
So much for his astronomical knowledge. The stars are in front of the moon. Allah is truly great. He can do anything. Pffft! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Whats with the crescent moon symbol in Islam? Where does it come from? Whats so great about the moon?
How do you celebrate eid mubarak in your country? Its my first eid yet I am far away from home. In my country (Indonesia), in eid fitr day, people wear new clothes, make special food called ketupat which is eaten with chicken curry, and make also many special cakes and fruit drinks. In the morning, people go to field to pray together, then after praying, wearing new clothes and go from one house to another (your neighbour) to forgive each other. Then, there is also tradition to visit parent. People who lives in the city visit their family in the village, and vice versa. So there are always huge traffic jam these days. Then there is also tradition to go to cemetery, put flower on the graves and pray for those who has leave us. I am homesick :bawl: Eventhough so, my boyfriend took me to sushi restaurant last night. God bless him Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!

The way they draw it, it always looks more like an annular or partial solar eclipse to me. The star in front makes no sense.
No its used to say Happy Celebrations. You can use it on any Muslim festival, we have two of them You can also say Eid Said on a Birthday. Do you also get offended when other people have birthdays, if its not your birthday? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Although the two signs together or the crescent only is often regarded as a symbol of Islam, the crescent and star are traditional symbols of Turkish (Turkic) identity. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_and_crescent Like the star on a Christmas tree. There isn't actually a star on any tree.
Maybe I get it, maybe not, but I know there are also muslim in America, how the american muslim celebrate it then? ...?
