I was listening to my neighbor and her friend talking, and they were complaining about schools. Rather than complaining about schools not teaching kids shit, they were complaining about kids being expected to add in kindergarten. I think it's ridiculous to complain about that, most kids(who don't have mental problems) should be able to add by the time they're 3. A number line is so easy to learn. I remember my dad was teachng me integers in kindergarten. Can anyone tell me why somebody would complain about such a thing? My neighbor only gave the response that it's stupid to have kids trying to learn all that stuff at once, which is bullshit.

But it's your neighbors opinion and they are entitled to express their opinions just as your opinion is also allowed. If you cannot recognize that others have their right to view things their way then you are becoming a bigot, are you becoming one?
i taught my kids to count at a young age, and my youngest son is a whizz at maths, and my oldest son (you know the retards) is brilliant at english and sciences
what? keep going varda i think your funny! i am laughing so hard, i might actually need you to not stop
Why would I be kidding. It kind of makes me happy that someone would be surprised by that though. It takes nothing more to understand about adding and subtracting integer than understanding a simple number line. Do you think it's an accomplishment to understand the dynamics of a number line at that age? I remember once a teacher told me that you can't subtract a from a 6 in first grade, and I called her a lier. I think I haven't learned enough since. At all. It's something that I think about a lot, and it makes me mad. I think of myself as an underachiever, which is why I started this thread. I can't believe that someone would actually complain about the standards of schools being too high. It's ridiculous, because the problem is the opposite. Does anyone have a differing opinion? Maybe I'm the one who's an idiot and my neighbor is right Am I not entitled to my own opinion that her opinion is stupid? It is what it is. If I'm a bigot because I feel her opinion(not her) stupid, then it is what it is.
children don't have to go to school till the age of 7 here. Still they are at the top of the educational ranking system later on. My oldest son, now 5 spend most of his time playing outside with a collection of other kids consisting of various ages. He is rather a fit little boy. If he were in Holland he would be sitting inside all day in school. I teach him personally all the things he need to know. 1. - McDonalds is evil. (he refuses to believe this) 2. - Clowns are evil (he refuse to believe this, and interestingly he can't see how Ronald McDonald is double evil by this definition) 3. - I am always right (he definitely refuses to believe this) 4. - I am a doctor (he refuses to believe this) 5. - It is not good to worship stuff, ie toys (he refuses to believe this) 6. - life isn't fair (he figured that out by himself already).
