I was digging through some old floppies the other day when I ran across one I had been searching for for near eternity. Wolfenstein 3D. Don't let Doom fool you, little children. Wolfenstein was the original first-person-shooter. And it still kicks *ss!!!!!!

Many of you probably know its modern sequel, "Return to Castle Wolfenstein." Ever wonder why it said "Return to?" But my main point is: Does anyone else remember and/or own this masterful piece of gaming history? If not, you definitely should familiarize yourself with it.

    Stay cool,

    Yes, I have a copy - somewhere!

Does anybody remember "Space Invaders"? How about "Pong"? Without them, there would have been no "Wolfenstein".

I finished that game when i was in the navy. The computer was a 486 and was pretty fast for it's time. Isn't there a secret wall around here somewhere? I need some food...

YES! Wolfenstein was (and still is) a lot of fun.
Now the fun is different though- you may understand.

Anyone remember the one before that that was an overhead view? I think we still have a copy somewhere...
There is a Linux game called Hunt. The map is in text just like DND and you go around shooting people. The fun thing is that you can shoot through the walls, something that most shooters even at that time didn't do. We still have copies of those games, by the way.

    P.S. Anybody remember Zork?

    Yes!!
That was a major part of my life as I was growing up. I used to lean over the back of the couch and watch Dad play it every evening..

Does anyone remember the old Apogee games?
Like Crystal Caves and (the original) Duke Nukem? Or how about Secret Agent?

Ahhhh... but who can remember being standing
"... in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike." ?

    Peace.

And for those that might want to
re-live the adventure, or for those who
might be just a bit curious ->> here.

Thanks for the link. If you haven't played RTCW...don't miss the multiplayer option. The matches can be quite boring at times but if you find a good set of players, time has no meaning....(unless of course you need the bathroom)

I loved Wolfenstein: peeking around the corner, going in for the kill...

the new Wolfenstein was fun at first, with it's incrdible graphics. I didn't finish it tho, cause it got boring. Infiltrating base after base after base...

The multi player remains enjoyable, but I do not make the time to get into it.

Waiting for Doom 3, Unreal II and Morrowind.
