America like Israel

America, like Israel, was created by Europeans through a genocide of the indigenous people. White settlers drove the American Indians off their ancestral land. If they fought, they were killed. Indians were confined to a few reservations. No thought was given to the rights of the Indians. Whites believed that God wanted them to have the land. Until recent years, the Indian genocide was celebrated in Western movies, and never criticized in schools. Just as Indians were considered uncivilized heathens not deserving basic rights; so are the Palestinians. The parallels between the establishment of the American and Israeli states are many. The American genocide and enslavement of African people likewise has been insufficiently recognized, criticized, or corrected.

Racism thrives at a subconscious level in the vast majority of Americans' minds. Americans consider themselves and their country to be especially righteous and blessed by God. The Israeli Jews, of course, consider themselves the 'Chosen People'. The religious bigotry and tribalism inherent in this idea require no comment.

Many fundamentalist Christians are 'Friends of Israel'. They take the Book of Revelations in the New Testament very seriously. They believe that Christ's Second Coming to Earth will be preceded by the re-establishment of the Kingdom of Israel and a war over Israel. All the more reason for Protestants to help establish Israel and remain its 'friend'.

What? History tells us that Israel was a country thousands of years ago and they were on lands that were lacking many Arabs. How do you justify your statement. Can you link me to a historical site that will verify what you state. Thanks.

Now hold on a second lidae. I live in America, but my ancestors are from a small European country who were not here for or took no part in the early stages of this country.

    You said:
From what i understand there was fighting but the Indians fought anyone who set foot on their land. So these people who came here, which for all i know they had a right to do, fought back.

    Israel:

It is this little peice of land, and there were Jews over there since the beginning of time.

I think i am impartial in both cases.

You could say that about everyone.

    Ho-hum. {yawn} Yet another anti-American, anti-Israeli thread.

Note to the original poster: There's hardly a square mile of space on the face of this whole planet that wasn't taken from somebody else at one time. So why are you wasting our time and server disk space with this anyway?

As for the case of America, it was created by that murder.

As for Israel, first you have to first figure out who was on the land first. The Bible is not evidence.

And what about the rest of the world? Does it all still belong to the people who were there first?????

    Welcome back Norse.

There isn't a nation on Earth that doesn't have blood on its hands. The USA should not turn a blind eye to this fact, but neither should Americans wallow in misery at the notion that their ancestors did nasty things. If you go back far enogh, Norse, everybody has blood on their hands. My German, English & French ancestors did horrible things long before they came to America, is it any surprise that they brought that flaw with them? Your Syrian/Arab ancestors made equal sport of murder and conquest. None of this justifies Israel... but it does explain it.

Precisely the point I was making. It is ridiculous to make such a huge change for something that just happens. If the Native Americans want their land back, they should prepare for war. Likewise with us.
