ROYGBIV Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain is what they teach in schools in the UK.
    Wrong, wrong wrong wrong!!

Didn't that sequence/ list come from Newton?
And he had a predilection for the number 7.

They are the same colors of the spectrum of white light, because a rainbow is essentiall refracted light anyway.

Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet.

all the colors are colors in a rainbow.

And yes, I spelled it the American way, cos I crave freedom.

I agree. The response was both surprising and illuminating.

The rainbow is a continuous spectrum. Colours are a discontinous category.

We see colours, but they aren't there as such. We easily label something as green, but not as blue-green (unless you are a fashion designer or gay). Our minds are designed to pick up certain categories easier than others.

I think the colors in a rainbow are red, yellow and blue. Any other color is a mixture of any two of those colors.
