    Hello,

I don't think I was bad at chemistry; but unfortunatly, I can't remeber now the difference between an N- compound or reaction and an O- one.

What do N- and O- mean? and are there other ones?

    Many thanks,

    n means normal
    o means ortho.
    there are two more.
    m and p.
m for meta, p for para.
these designations deal with rings such as benzene.
they denote the positions of the radicals attached.

a benzene ring is numbered with 1 at the top and going around clockwise.
in this particular case the acylation radical is attached to the 1 position.
the glcosylation is attach to the ortho position.
