Burned cd including - The Cult: Painted on my Heart. Moby's version of the James Bond theme. The Presidents' version of Video killed the radio star. Deep by Nine Inch Nails. Magic Carpet ride (crystal method remix), and a boat load of other songs.

The Pass
Proud swagger out of the schoolyard
Waiting for the world's applause
Rebel without a conscience
Martyr without a cause
Static on your frequency
Electrical storm in your veins
Raging at unreachable glory
Straining at invisible chains
And now you're trembling on a rocky ledge
Staring down into a heartless sea
Can't face life on a razor's edge
Nothing's what you thought it would be
All of us get lost in the darkness
Dreamers learn to steer by the stars
All of us do time in the gutter
Dreamers turn to look at the cars
Turn around and turn around and turn around
Turn around and walk the razor's edge
Don't turn your back
And slam the door on me
It's not as if this barricade
Blocks the only road
It's not as if you're all alone
In wanting to explode
Someone set a bad example
Made surrender seem all right
The act of a noble warrior
Who lost the will to fight
And now you're trembling on a rocky ledge
Staring down into a heartless sea
Done with life on a razor's edge
Nothing's what you thought it would be
No hero in your tragedy
No daring in your escape
No salutes for your surrender
Nothing noble in your fate
Christ, what have you done?
Lyrics by Neil Peart

Lowell George (RIP) was a songwriting genius. The group of musicians he assembled are all at the top of their class. It is music that one never tires to listen.
As an aside: Frank Zappa never hired Lowell when he auditioned for Frank. He told him to go back to Georgia and start his own band.
Thanks for that Frank, wherever you are.

But I have 5+ days of music on my external hard drive, so I spend most of my time listening to iTunes; this afternoon I'm shaking out the cobwebs with a random directory of heavy metal. Helloween right now, specifically We Got the Right, followed up with Alice Cooper (I Love the Dead) and, if I sit here long enough, W.A.S.P. (F--k Like a Beast). Aah, there goes my youth.
"I love the dead before they're cold, their bluing flesh for me to hold. Cadaver eyes upon me see nothing."
See, the thing is that if I had smoked dope in high school, I would have moved past my heavy-metal years. In the meantime, there's still a little thrill from playing F--k Like a Beast so everyone in the neighborhood can hear it. Or at least the weird people next door.
thanx,
Tiassa

about 36 metallica mp3s, too many to list, but it's about half the songs they've produced i'd say. Damn good stuff, though not such a big fan of the first album.
Btw, i know you were asking cds, but while i have several metallica albums i cant use the cd plaer cos my bro is sleeping behind me so i tend to use mp3s late night/early morning.

IT'S GREAT, I LIKE IT:) :)
+ I really like French
you have a special album to advice me, or some particular songs...?
- CD Dried Blood: Body parts.
- CD Bunkergate 7: Torn Skin, Capital Punishment, Die in Winter, Dying culture, tell me why, Bunkertor 7, Mortal Highway (I like almost the entire disc)
- CD Born Again: Is it you, maybe a few others.
- song: Soylent Green
Note: Black death is the only song that is so guitar driven. There is lots of distorted stuff which could be guitar though :) Wumpscut falls under electro-industrial.
Dried Blood and Bunkertor 7 have a very raw feel. Other discs and songs I've heard (including Born Again) lean more towards dark dance music.
I believe he returned to his raw self on the later discs, which I don't know.
I like the dying culture song better on Bunkergate 7. It is also on Dried Blood. First one is more chaotic :)
thanx

Just been to mah local librararary, and I got these 4:
J. Englishman - Poor Li'l Rockstar
Finger Eleven - Tip
Moist - Creature
Rage Against The Machine - Battle Of Los Angeles
* The 'mah' you read there is from listening to RATM too much... :D
Battle of L.A. is a great cd. Right up there with Evil Empire.
I just finished a new cd and thought I'd post it;
1) Born on the Bayou - Creedance Clear Water Revival
2) Martha My Dear - The Beatles
3) Airbag - Radiohead
4) Fully Completely - The Tragically Hip
5) Roadhouse Blues - The Doors
6) Chubb Sub - Medeski, Martin & Wood
7) I'm Only Sleeping - The Beatles
8) One More Saturday Night - The Grateful Dead
9) Ahead By A Century - The Tragically Hip
10) Angie - The Rolling stones
11) Electioneering - Radiohead
12) Philly Cheese Blunt - Medeski, Martin & Wood
13) Tomorrow Never Knows - The Beatles
14) Vanilla Sky - Paul McCartney
15) Touch of Grey - The Grateful Dead
16) Bubblehouse - Medeski, Martin & Wood
I think this is probably one of my favourite cds to date. I love the opening with Bayou and in general just enjoy the flow. Martha turns into Airbag almost perfectly, the transition from Fully Completely to Roadhouse is flawless and I can't even explain the sound of that turning into Chubb Sub. And the last four songs work excellently together.
Everyone here probably knows every song on that cd except for the Medeski, Martin & Wood. I strongly advise anyone to download Chubb Sub and Bubblehouse - both very cool songs!

Rage is frelling awesome! :D Their lyrics are so image based, and so true. The heavy beats and bass really pound the sound into your head. "Ashes In The Fall" and "New Millennium Homes", definitely for the download! :)
Creature by Moist is what I'd call an intelligent album. Smooth melodies, and an added edge because of David Usher's voice. "Tangerine" and "Disco Days" is a work of art. :)
Finger Eleven really disappointed me. Besides the one recognizable tune "Above", the rest seemed dull and repetitive. No songs really struck me as original, and they seemed stiff after "Bones and Joints" and "Drag You Down". Sad...or maybe I wasn't listening enough.
Poor Li'l Rockstar by J. Englishman: haven't listened to it yet, but I've heard the first song. Sweet contemporary jazz vibes. :)
tunnel records hh - tunnel trance force 18 cd 1

it's very good

The best track on this CD is definitely "Ophelia", which combines a hard-hitting guitar line and some catchy vocals to produce a very "un-Moist" sounding song. For once, the emphasis is not just on Ushers over-emotional, whiny, self-pitying vocals. Overall, a very good disc.
Peace.

System of a Down Toxicity
Oh hey, I have that too! :D How'd you find it?
I thought it was great, I liked the dark metal feeling, combined with almost cultish tones. Though the lyrics are quite short and repeated a whole lot, I think SOAD got the message through. I didn't mind the yelling and screaming as much, because it was the right kind of music for it. I find them very original: They have the heavy beats, but it's not like Rage Against The Machine....there's screaming, but it's not like Slipknot... A great CD, except not one I'd listen to if my mum were in the room with me. :D
My favourite songs ATM are "ATWA", "X", "Shimmy", and "Aerials", though I love all of them equally. :)
SOAD - Toxicity
Tool - Lateralus
Pearl Jam - Ten
Incubus - Make Yourself
A Perfect Circle - Mer de Noms

Screaming Trees: Uncle Anesthesia
Screaming Trees: Invisible Lantern
Queens of the Stone Age: Live at the Cotton Club, 5.27.2002
(Note: Evil Heat--I also obtained a live copy of the real song "Bomb the Pentagon". Sadly, the version I had obtained was a forgery. Embarrassingly, I had cited it in a debate somewhere in this forum. Whoops.)
Also added: new Hendrix recording--"Love Love"; several songs from a Trojan Records reggae compilation, and some random singles a friend dropped in from his iPod. Added and then removed: two songs by Eminem. One was a corrupted mp3, the other just plain awful and I didn't want to keep it.
