From the Hebrew name מִיכָאֵל (Mika'el) which meant "who is like God?". This is the name of one of the seven archangels in Hebrew tradition and the only one identified as an archangel in the Bible. In the Book of Revelation in the New Testament he is portrayed as the leader of heaven's armies, and thus is considered the patron saint of soldiers.

I had no say in this....

every name means something, if you use a new age name it still means what the word means, even if its something as crappy as "ball" your stil a round ball,

also if you make a name up wich has no meaning atall i guess you could make up a meaning.

    peace.

my name means female. My parents weren't too keen on originality. Both my brothers names mean John, which is God Is Gracious.

Aoife (ee-fa) is Gaelic, because I'm Irish. It's got a complicated meaning, because Irish words have kind of complex multiple meanings. Aoibh (which the name Aoife comes from) is an Irish word which means any of: pleasant, radiant, gentle or beautiful. Also has a kind of association with animals or birds in most stories. The name also has a connection to 'aoibhinn' which means to love (an object or doing something, not a person,).
